Your summer break has obviously spurred you on Phillip. The build is coming along nicely and looking good. The Goering scheme is going to look superb.

Thanks, I had some time away from the bench, now we're back at it. Ought to maiden her before thanksgiving... maybe even halloween! Next up is to install the HS-45's in the wing. I haven't had good luck printing on decal paper, so I bought a set of Northeast Screen Graphics WWI Water slide decals. Kinda pricey, then so is the decal paper. The Screen Graphic decals look far better than anything I could print. Perhaps I need another printer.

Well, thank you.... it won't be a museum piece, but if she flies well, I'll be happy. The head rest is a hollowed out block of laminated scrap. The instructions with the decals said to lightly rub the surface with 600 grit paper for a flat finish. Well, the surface is not smooth, and very thin. The decal was touched up with flat black, matching the finish on the fuselage, which is kind of rough. I imagine the original wasn't much better.

I think that this is one of Aerdrome R/C's better flyers - and they generally fly very well. I have a 66" Eindecker that flies like a dream with wing warping.

I saw your thread and video, Very nice! Is the wing warping in the plans? Or did you do the mod yourself?

I did the mod myself, which was actually less work than doing the ailerons in the plans.

Do you prime the Doculam at all or just paint on.

Oil based? Enamel? Acrylic? Does it matter?

Got this kit under the bench with all the bulk wood called out in the bill of materials packaged up next to it. Need to get it out and build it.

I have not primed the doculam. Have used both enamel and acrylic, I like the enamel more. Enamel adheres better, it is possible to mask using low adhesion tape. Have masked on acrylic as well, but the acrylic seems to come up with the tape easier, requiring more touch up.
