Tom,

Not exactly what you asked but it doesn't fit upright on a 12X box, fits laying down though.

The DX18 is 275 mm tall but does fit on a Pelican 1500 case, actually fits two

Yes it will. And using the JR foam set JRPA710F you can fit two.

That's funny right there...and probably true. It will just take some getting used to charging without knowing what goes back into the pack. OTOH, using a charger in constant-voltage (lead acid) mode may provide a field charging option with MAh metering.

Nope. Starting with the 9503 they moved to malaysia.
The 12x and 9303 were the last ones made in Japan (and yes the 9303 has quad bearing gimbals while the 9503 does not -ex).

I assume the dx18 is now coming from the same factory as the new JRs.

Does the DX18 have "Model Lock" like the JR radios? This has helped me on more than one occasion.

Tom,

I think they are referring to the Model Match technology that does not allow you to launch on the wrong program like we could with the old 72mHz systems. Not that I would have ever done that twice. The whole reason that all my planes are now set up using the same basic program. I got started doing that after the second crash caused by stupidity of not changing programs.

See Ya,

Pat

Sherman,

Just so you know reading your review on the radio is what caused me to go out and buy one. Of course now we are all now waiting feverishly for your programming guide for the DX18 to come out. Hint Hint Hint.

See Ya,

Ah yes...Model Match. That's what I was trying to think of.

Ditto on "Model Match" I forgot the name and called it "Model Lock". This feature becomes important when you have grey hair like me and can have "senior moments".

I did not have the time to write a guide for the 11x. Sorry. Maybe in the future, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. It takes a lot more time than most could imagine. The guide and template method used for the DX18 was much simpler than the long manual I did for the 9303/9503. Plus it allows you to have a template that will provide most functions as soon as you turn it on. If I do one for the 11x it will be a short version of the DX18.

The 11x is a great radio (I have two), but I am shifting all my stuff to the DX18. It has a few more features than the 11x (using the flap stick to switch to landing mode) plus I really like the return of the side sliders.

+1 to that. I have been asking for flight modes on a stick switch for five years...awesome that it is now a reality. Got used to the side sliders in my 10X days and love them.

The DX18 programming is quite intuitive. I purposely just dove in on a blank template and started working on things...needed Sherman's guide to help figure out how to activate the trimmers for flaps and ailerons, and for a hint on setting the power-up warnings, but that was it. Everything else seems logically placed and relatively easy to find.
