How about an International Tiger Moth Longest Glide Contest?
Fly your Moth as high as you dare
shut off the motor
start the stopwatch
glide back down slooowly
power up just before you hit the ground
stop the watch
report your best time here!
A relatively stock GWS Tiger Moth. Turning the 2 wings into 1 very long one would be cheating
Teams with spotters are encouraged, but let's leave the binoculars and spotting scopes at home, OK?
hitting the ground isn't allowed
you can only cheat yourself, there's no prizes
You only get one Moth, fly it too high and lose it, you're disqualified!
You can avoid any burden of guilt for super-long glides by promoting yourself to the Expert Class!
To get things going, my 2nd or 3rd attempt timed 3:00 minutes. That's gliding pretty steeply at 6300 feet, so I'm sure you can do better!

when I pitched the prop off my mustang at 300 ft (also losing the canopy with it) I glided longer than 3 mins to the ground! lol. very flat glide when its 12oz AUW, hehe.
