Im also having an issue with CG. I went with 2200mAh 4S compact, as there weight seemed comparable to the 1800's that were recommended. The 2200 compact weights 213g, standard 1800 mAh 4s batteries seem to start around the 197g mark, so figured i would still be able to balance. What is the weight of the 1800 4s batteries you are using phoenix? The lightest 30C's on the HK website say 209g.. not sure why my CG is so far out if there is only 4g difference in battery weight...

Just curious, is your plane nose heavy or tail heavy? Is it the Edge you're talking about?

The thing with these is that they will fly with either a 1800 or 2200 in the nose but the 1800 is best, after your maiden, you may want to move the pack back slightly....and I do mean slightly!

I have the Edge 540 v3 800mm, it is quite nose heavy if i put the battery in the front battery compartment. I need to hang part of the battery over plastic tube where the the metal rods for the wings slot into to get it somewhat balancing, but this is not practical as the canopy wont fit.

Just clicked my Edge together... very easy setup and radio install (ie -- plug in a RX!)

Will go and give her a whirl today..

Interested to see how it compares with the RareBears

45-50mm on the CG can't be right!! Mines not even close with a Nano-Tech 1800mah 4s 35c 209g.....I have not flown it yet, but should I be concern? I don't want it to nose straight into the ground on my first flight if you know what I mean...

As I keep saying, just put an 1800mAh 4s pack in the nose and fly it, it's a racer so landing speed is quite high, if you have a high C rated pack, you MAY want to move it back very, very slightly but you need to be carefull, a few mm too far rearward and these models become very twitchy. I fly the Edge on an Turnigy 1800mAh 30c pack all the way in the nose.

Anybody have a comparison to the rarebear? I know these are slightly larger but whiz is faster and flies / handles better? The have rudders so can you fly it like a fast 3D racer?

Defintely RareBear on 4S is faster..

After a few failed attempts (keep ripping the landing gear out), I got my Edge in the air today. Running a Nanotech 1800 4S, I actually had to cut the battery tray floor to move the pack under the wing brace. I also set my throws back to 30% on aileron and 60% on elevator (both with 25% expo - JR 11X) to get a nice solid flying plane. Handlaunch with no gear, it is reasonably fast, but not RareBear speed (on 4S1000).

Nice plane, but not sure if it's a keeper for me yet.

@ BulletMaster- Thanks for that info. I fly my RB on 3S and have a ball. It's super fast and oh so nimble. I still haven't put my 4S 1300 in yet
I'm thinking since these are a bit bigger that it should be fast and maneuverable and less twitchy than the RB. What are the flight characteristics for the V3? Is it as fun to fly as the RB? Maybe more relaxing? The RB gets me so pumped doing high speed turns at full speed! That motor and prop cry is awesome. I just want these to be as fun and as fast as the RB. They certainly look beautiful.

Putter.. once you cut the throws right back and get the cofg right, it tracks nicely. I would get used to the RareBear on 4S first, before trying this one.. or alternatively, use a 3S pack on the V3..

Hatch removal?

Just got mine yesterday, but how do you remove the hatch?....seems stuck. Thanks. BTW...wing loading on these things is stupid high...
