Fake Cinestar frames on GoodLuckBuy

You got to be kidding. Check out http://www.goodluckbuy.com/professio...wheelbase.html

3D printed parts, loose bolts in pics, steel fasteners directly on carbon plates (corrodes very quickly), fake carbon tubes (at least looking). Is this for real?

You meant this one?

Original (~1750$):

Knock-off (~500$):

Does look like the fake carbon (sandwiched glass fibre with cf foil).

I'm pretty sure they have been encouraged by success on these sites and eebait in ripping off buyers thinking they have been getting real cheap "real CF" frames such as the ATG and X450 stuff.

I don't see a market for this price category BUT you could really impress those people at the park who ask " did you make that ? "

Drop a zero off that price and I'll be all over it. $500? Snore.

The reason you see these chinese copies is because they are dead easy to copy. Anyone with a CNC machine and a hack saw can make one. You just need to order the right nuts & bolts to go with it.

+1! It's not rocket science and there isn't anything terribly novel or unique about the Cinestar design.

Just priced out the tubes for a customer octo. Just the raw tubes, forget about the machining or cutting, cost over $1000. That's aircraft grade 25mm carbon woven tubes polished. Roughly $600 for 10ft!

I've purchased high quality carbon tubing as well and it's crazy expensive. There is so much crap carbon fiber on the market that anyone can be dooped. Crap carbon fiber is overloaded with resin so it is brittle, weak and extra heavy.

I promise that this GoodLuckBuy CS copy will be a waste of $$$

Got a link to a website selling this aircraft grade carbon fibre?

I assume this CF is a lot stronger than standard cheap CF, how much is the question. Also is there a way to tell the difference between crap CF and good quality CF?

Buying from a US manufacturer seems to be reliable for good quality CF. I have been happy with Rockwest Composites, ACP Composites and Dragonplate. They delineate between the laminates and hybrids clearly and you can see the correlation with price difference.

Also one of the unique features of the Cinestar is the use of vibration dampening springs for the camera mount, this conveniently has them absent. Without those this frame is worth no more than any other cheap-ass Octo you can get from a cloner IMO.

If it was 100-200 I'd say it might be worth the "carbon" it is cut from but $500+ is an absolute joke.
