Excessive SPAM
The SPAM levels in Batteries and Chargers is getting extremely bad and it seems to be taking longer and longer for them to disappear even though they are reported. Has any thought been given to making requirements for new accounts? Many other forums such as Helifreak have some kind of moderator approval process for new accounts to keep spam down.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm afraid approving each account is not an option on a site as large as RCGroups but we will step up efforts to remove spam faster.

Seems like there could certainly be some kind of measures taken. Posts could be automatically flagged for review if they contain too many keywords used by spammers.

I have taken care of the offending spam. Moderators review reported posts on a daily basis. I will make sure we heighten our level of awareness with spam. Thanks for the posts.

The spam level has not been getting any better. Stop sitting around and do something to prevent it. It's the same one or two people peddling the same crap every day...

Sorry for the late reply. I'm in Kentucky covering The Bruce DLG contest. We have stepped up our spam removal and we are currently working on faster ways for spam to be identified and removed. This is something that we are working to improve on. |

So as the SPAM continues you might want to look into this...
Look at this user (probably a bot): http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/searc...er_%20Palumbo7 His posts are one or two words and are always followed up with an image URL (which you should put in the disallowed words) with a white image which doesn't really show up. If you search google you'll find this same url on dozens of other forums. It's likely connected to the spammers. I've reported other user accounts for this in the past as well. |

I have warned all of the posts and banned the account. Currently we have three mods that scan the site for spam each day. It's the first thing we do in the morning. Our techs are also working on ways to curb the spammers. Thanks for the links.
