Not much work during the week this week. Soccer and club meeting getting in the way. Have a day off today so may be able to do some more detailing.

I did get a chance to play with Callie's graphics a little bit. Put the roundels on the bottom of the bottom wing. Seemed to go on well. However, one of the decals does not seem to fit very well. Probably because these decals were originally designed to fit another designers plane But the stripes for the rear of the fuse will need a little creative fixing to look right. All of the other graphics are fantastic.

I placed an order the beginning of the week for some 2S 1600 batteries. Also in that order was some MAS 11x7 props. However, I have been playing with motocalc some more and i think that a 12x8 APC E prop will be a better choice. Motocalc predicts this will be right at 68 watts/lb with the ideal pitch speed. Pete, does 68 watts/lb sound like a good number? The 11x7 is a little bit low on power and pitch speed with the 950 kv motor that I picked out. Also, the 12x8 prop will look good on the big cowling. What do you think?

Plane looks to be getting close yet I keep thinking of more things to do. Need to fabricate the combing and headrest for the cockpit. Have a cockpit view of the instruments I want to glue in. Need to fabricate the windscreen, a Vickers gun and a Lewis gun. Need to stripe the cowling. I also have a good color front view of a Le Rhone engine I want to put in the cowling. Then I can start adding the graphics. After all that is done it will be time for some assembly. I better get to work.

Jim

BTW does anyone know a good source for a 1/8 pilot?

Jim,
68 watts/lb sounds borderline excessive to me. I'd be aiming for more like 55 watts/lb, but still expect to need full throttle infrequently. It's pointless having too much power available because it will complicate low throttle settings.

Thanks Pete. Will try the 11x7 first.

Thanks Bill.

I made the Vickers gun and the windscreen yesterday. Hope to get them mounted and some pics up today.

Pete, I did some checking with Motocalc and the MAS 11x7 will put me around 58 watts/lb but a little low on pitch speed. All assuming an estimated weight of 25 oz.s

Had a great time flying old wet and smelly last Sunday. Also flew an electric or two.

Added some stripes to the cowl and some of Callie's wonderful graphics on the fuse.

Is it starting to look like Cassidy's plane?

Dang Jim,

That sucker is looking very spiffy!! You really have this one decked out.

If it fly's anywhere near as good as it looks you'll have a wonderful model.

Just steer clear of black Dr1's and Zeppelins.
Looking seriously nice mate, but don't try to fly it like a CGI.

JIMA, looking great! Should have no trouble with orientation on this aircraft.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I really appreciate them. Just what a guy needs at times when the rest of the day has not gone so well.

Not too long now before she will be ready to fly. Another week or two.
