risingstar: You need to take off the canopy. Then clear the elevator servo's gear teeth of imperfections(use an exacto knife or press your fingernail tip, if it's fine enough, into every notch of the gear). Then back off the brass nut holding the worm shaft on -at least one full turn.

I tested my cover out. Worked great. Everything BEHIND the cover was dripping with mud - lipo, wires, battery hatch rear... I wanted to make one for the entire belly when I saw the success!

I have the fuse, main wings and landing gear. It'll cost about $40 to finish the airframe from my LHS. It's not cost effective to buy the electronics to finish it stock, so my question is : How would you finish building a complete setup?

I'll be placing an order at HK anyways and I was looking at these :

If stock parts might work better mixed with some of these, let me know.( I'm not sure about the servos, or anything else, for that matter) I have 2 stock Migs and most of the airframe, as replacement parts from a crash, but I can probably fix up the damage. It won't look so pretty, or fly 100%, but I'm sure I'll still have lots of fun with it. I'll use it as my belly lander and my first one for ROGs. And if I can keep costs down, I'll set up a third with a 3s system.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

btw - I also have a couple micro GP F-86 Sabres which I haven't maidened yet. My thing is helis, but I love these little edf jets.

I'm pretty sure you think this is a 35mm Skyangel Mig thread but this thread is referring to the e-flite 28mm EDF Mig 15 DF from Horizon.

Yes, I read the thread title. Most of my models are from Horizon, and the rest from Hobbico. The Migs are both UMX and the Sabres are Great Planes. GP came with Anylink. The only other micro edf's I'm looking at are from BH, as they're having a summer sale. ( And some helis are Walkera)

For $40 I can complete the airframe, but it's not cost effective to finish it with stock parts. I could pull the parts from the crashed one, but I thought I might fix it as is ( as long as I can make it fly decent) and head over to the mod thread to see about going with a 3s setup. ( Why not have 3 Migs?)

There's a few things I want to pick up at HK, so I checked for parts and prices. It doesn't matter what or where, but as long as it's cost effective. And to be honest, I usually only do some preventative maintenance and , if they're worthwhile, some preventative mods. And, of course, light repairs from crashes, but this'll be my first "heavy" mod.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. NitroCharged appears to be like a guru on this subject and I've watched several videos too. Awesome work. Really awesome. If you have time, I'd love to pick your brain brother.

Have a great day, eh.

Aviator, all the fans you listed are way too big. That's why I thought you had a 35mm Skyangel. You need a 28mm max to fit into the fuse.

UMX Mig 15 DF Nose Cover!

Here's some piccies of the bash plate for the Mig. This was done today using the new heatshrink I got in the mail this morning. it's 6mil instead of 4mil which means a lot thicker and tougher and less flimsy. By looking at the nose inside the cover, you can see how deformed the nose really is, even though by itself it looks fine (the plug was taken from a brand new Mig straight out of the box). This is definitely going to make the nose much, much more resilient to nose ins.

Very nice... Can you give the brand and supplier of the heatshrink tubing? Looks perfect for batteries and other things as well, so why not.

Thanks guys.

RG, I get l my heatshrink from ebay. Search for battery heatshrink and you'll get a plethora of colors and sizes.

e.g I got some blue 40mm for the Mig's lipo's. This was for when I stripped down the supplied eflite lipo's and reseated the wires correctly.

So how have you done it? Directly applied on the foam and a hairdryer?

I suppose a heatgun would damage the foam...

Did you have some kind of mold?

I took a mold from a new Mig using alginate. I then cast it in plaster of Paris super fine grade. I shrink it over that and trim to suit.
