I called Vess and asked their input about which prop for 3d, they told me 23b (to my surprise).
when asked about the 23a as it haas a lower pitch for hovering etc, they said 23b will do 3d just fine but it won't rip the engine as much as the 23a - in regular flight.
your thoughts ? I know some of you guys said you tried both ?

I use a 23B on my DLE 55. 3D is no problem and sport flying with wicked snap rolls is also fun. 23B for me.

I have quite a few flights on mine with both the 23A and B, is anyone changing the high speed carb settings with changes in the props?

I've tried quite a few

It simply doesn't rip. It has excellent pull, and is lighter so it spins up quickly which is useful on pull outs.

TBone08, the Zinger Pro is not going to give you the RPM's that the Vess or a Xoar prop will, before or after break in. If your eng is new, use a recommended smaller prop (22x8, Vess 23A probably) and follow the break in procedures to get enough time on the eng before going to a bigger prop and heavier load for 3D. Maybe look for a break in thread on the DLE 55. Good luck and have fun.

I agree with rica1, breakin is important for all motors, but with gassers, use a prop you want to use most of the time as gassers are not like nitro's, and don't run for too long on the ground, fly it to break it in but for a few tanks don't full throttle it into vertical as it adds to much load on it.. Min 2 gallons for breakin. Also buy a NGK CM-6 for the plug and chuck the original. I never touched the carb settings for my breakin. The settings for the factory are good. Just make sure you runa good oil for the mix and look at the manufacturers specs for the oil/fuel mix. Just my experience.

I know this thread is a little bit old, but I recently moved from a Xoar 23x8 to a Mejzlik 23x10 because of ripping. I was back on the needles today (engine is a DLE-55 with about 5 gallons through it, carefully broken in) and I could NOT get anything better than about 6600RPM. Is/has anyone else run this prop on a DLE-55 and gotten better RPM? It idles well, transition is smooth, but this just seems really low. I was expecting close to 7000 or at least 6800.
