Turnigy Talon Quadcopter V2 Build

Hi Everybody,

This is my first multi rotor build. Just want to share items I purchased and to get a feedback in chase I need to get some extra or use a different parts until the package arrives from HK. Here they are:

With those electronics which of the props would you guys suggest to use on the quad? I'm planning to build it in X configuration. 10x6 or 11x4.7? Also as much as I'm aware the stock controller board comes with "+" configuration firmware, right? Which firmware(and version) would you recommend for me to use?

Also, when resoldering ESC wires would you recommend using 16, 18 or maybe different gauge wires ? The stock wires would definitely not be long enough since I'd prefer to route the wires through the carbon fiber tube of the frame.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thank you,
Ruben

Could not find a suitable cover for my quad to protect the controller board. What would you recommend to use and where to buy it from? I'm in US.

look at the guage chart here: http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm

find amp draw max for motor and then find which wire will work. also, you should know that a wire that is too small will produce heat from the extra current, but the heat lost will wont be as bad as loosing flight time from heavier wire.

I've got a 55Amps ESC which is definitely not using 10 gauge wires. Is this table applicable for short wires?

you mean 25amp, right :P

yeah, i always found that strange. if you are extending ESC wires, use the wire that the ESC already uses, i guess...

no, actually I meant 55.
for instance:
*) Turnigy Thrust 55A is using 14AWG
*) Towerpro Mag8 30A is using 16AWG
*) RcTimer 40A is using 16AWG

but if I look to that table, that would recomment using 10AWG, 12AWG and 14AWG wires instead.

oohhh NVM i actually found some real test data http://www.flybrushless.com/motor/view/590

10x6 on 4s(this would be best option) with most power/flight time.

1x7/12x6/12x8 on 3s-- less thrust for same or more amps as 4S

Need Help!

Today received the parts from hk. Put everything tougher and flashed the board with XCopter 4.7 firmware. There is just one problem.

When trying to lift the copter from the ground its front left (number 1) motor does not raise from the ground, though the rest of the motors are already in the air. If I push the throttle more it feels like the copter would flip. It is also noticeable that first motor is spinning slower than other once. Spinning directions are correct and I'm using counter rotating props.

Please help to fix this problem. I've calibrated quad throttle range and also reversed incorrect gyro with transmitter. All motors and ESCs are identical.

Thank you, Ruben.
