Vintage Tamiya Blackfoot restoration

My brother in law gave me this from a garage sale, It was real dirty, Tires were ablsolutely gone, and it also has the old mechanical speed control.

It will retain the stock motor, but will have a Duratrax 7 cell ESC.

Shocks have been swapped out for aluminum oil filled to soften the ride.

Tires are on order from Tower and should be here tomorrow.

Wheels were so faded that they were pink

Got some new Tires in...........look great on the rims!

Also recieved a Duratrax 7 cell ESC w/reverse and had a Burly Traxxas 2075 for it................it'll turn the wheels easily at a standstill.

The shocks are some Duratrax ones that I got several years ago................just sitting in my "box"..............guess I needed them afterall.

Thanks for the comments!

Nice!! Whats the difference in the Blackfoot and the King Blackfoot? I see the body is a later model, the "92-'96 year model, bigger tires? Bigger motor?

the only thing the same is the frame pretty much. the king blackfoot has wishbone rear suspension instead of trailing arm. uses a 540 size motor.

Got to run it today for the first time!! I'm very suprised at the power and speed for a 540 brushed motor. I went with a 7 cell 4500 nimh and had to make rubber extenders for the battery tray "ends" to accomodate the other cell, looks pretty good really.

The 2075 is complete overkill for a servo but its quite a treat to be at a standstill and just wag the tires lock to lock like they weigh nothing.

I changed out the firm orange Duratrax springs for some softer Traxxas springs, added some stripes too.

I'll post some vid of it running, really quite impressive for brushed.

This is great! I just got an old Bush Devil and fixed it up myself, now I'm looking around and buying up anything broken that I can find for parts.
