The great thing about 2.4GHz is that it is immune from virtually any type of noise, such as from ignitions, metal to metal contact, etc. The servos, however, are not. So, an opto-isolation circuit will offer no benefit.

Just some thoughts...

Hi Jim.
Is šExpanderš the only/best way to go, beyond 16 channels?
Not possible to channel map from channel 17 and up, or will that somehow increase latency, compered to expander solution?
Just thinking that fewer parts/electronics is better. With the slave/master solution the power and placement -problem is solved.
I understand that you will get more channels with one single receiver, so I guess it is an economically solution with expander.

You can use more than one receiver to get more channels. The expander is an inexpensive (and quick - no FCC, no hassles) way to make new psuedo receivers to expand channels.

Our system currently does not support more than 16 different channels, although you could copy channels and have as many as you like. So, if you had 4 flaps, that would only require 1 channel, and 3 copies.

For what it's worth, I love this idea of a channel expander. Sounds like a great way to allow the full functionality of the new TX, with a smaller and less expensive receiver like the nano (for those that don't care about telemetry, anyway.)

Well, I found a new feature today for the expander... It can be used to convert a PPM stream into individual servo outputs too!

Also, I could use it to convert a Spektrum or S-Bus stream to servo outputs.

well, SBus hub is $25 with only four outputs... if Jim can make one that has 10 outputs for the same price... becomes a pretty talented gadget

Does the S-Bus hub have 16awg power wires for the servo bus?

How many channels will be supported for PPM? If 9 or 10, it can be useful for another system that has relatively expensive 8+ channel Rx, but cheap 6 ch Rx with PPM option.

The code supports up to 12 PPM channels, but there are only 10 outputs.

heck no. actually power distribution is one of its problems; it's all just standard servo wires and plugs handling the power.

I agree, and ditto with those new RXs with telemetry. C'mon Jim, where's the candy?

This would be very nice for aux functions that where the extra latency don't matter. Sooo...price and availability?
