Wanted
Albatross Sailplane / Grider kit or plans 70's - 80's

Looking for a RC sailplane I had as a kid it was called an albatross as I recall the wing was between 6 and 8 feet detachable in halves the fuselage was plastic or glass with a raised tail. It had a slight under camber wing. If you have one for sale or any info please let me know thanks,

Steve

Plans will work as well 

You might try contacting Montrose Hobby Shop in Montrose, Ca (Pasadena area)

Craig Foxgard is the owner and the designer of the Albatross, I flew with Craig in the late 70's in competition, he might have one laying around or plans?

This was a Great looking and flying sailplane,

Best of luck on your hunt.

I have the Albatross you're looking for...

I believe I have the model you're looking for. It has a fiberglass pod with a tubular tail-boom. Plug-in underchambered polydiheidral wing halves with a total span of around 99"? Rudder/Elevator controls with a flying horizontal...

My late uncle, Torao (Trucko) Kusaba (SULA), had given this Albatross to me back in the 80's. It belonged to one of his flying buddies, Mun. I recently spotted a picture of the model kit box and downloaded the photo.

I flew the model only a couple times off a high start but due to the fragile state of it's transparent yellow and tr. orange monokote covering, I decided to just keep and display it in memory of both Mun and my Uncle. Since then it's sustained some additional innevitable tears and whenever I gaze at it I ponder (along with all my other retired models) restoring it hopefully to it's
original glory, but then the thought of having to tear off all that old original monokote which I know my uncle had originally applied overwhelms my sentiments... LOL!

Give me a few to locate that box photo and the photo files I have of my Albatross and I will post them... I am sure this is the model you seek...!

Rather than hooking up my old CPU to search it's drive for the pictures it was easier just to take a few new pictures. Is this the particular "Albatross" glider model which the thread starter seek to obtain an example of?

I would have to find the photo image of the kit's packaging to be able to name the manufacturer, but if this is the "Albatross" model you seek, I am sure with these images surely will refresh the memories of some rcgroups member to recall the manufacturer. (For some reason I seem to think the name of manufacturer started with a M... ?)

I've searched around for information on all my old models, RC and plastic, and so far the only thing I found prior to this thread is the photo of the box label.

It would be interesting to hear of why the Albatross is signifigant to thread starter?

I can't say I've ever seen one but somehow "Pantera" pops into my mind.

I would say you have a MH Manufacturing Albatross and a nice looking one at that.

If it is sailplanes you are looking for the R/C Soaring thread might help. It would be a great place to post pictures and maybe some one could make the ID.
Heck, it could be in the thread already!

That's it...! MH Manufacturing produced the kit!

I did a quick google image search and didn't see the box picture that I had come across before. I only put "MH Manufacturing Albatross" as my search words.
The Albatros is mentioned on 'The Original Nostalgia Page' website http://thermalrider.com/nost/kits.html and lists the 99.75"Albatross and the 72.5" Anser as kitted by this company...
