If anyone knows where I can get a type II special navy please let me know. I've been searching the net to no avail.

you might also be able to post a "model wanted" entry on steelnavy.com's website. I have had luck inquiring there with other rare kit purchases.

You are correct redboat, very little material left.
I sleeved it part way.

I've always wondered what happened to this kit... I remember when it came out a few years ago, Squadron and other online retailers had it listed for over $100 (a bit expensive if you ask me). Now it seems that there isn't a single commercial vendor carrying these anymore. Perhaps the high production cost and low profit forced the kit out of production?

I recently picked up a Type II off of the ship forum on Hyperscale, a plastic modeling site. I got it at a steal for only $85!

I was looking on EBay for a type II. Found a Gato and bid $70.00. After 16 other bits I got the Gato for $70.00 plus $ 18.50 shipping. Had the guy wanting it just bid another dollar he would have won.

Going to go to Hyperscale now.

My 1/72 Type IIA has stalled. I have a few other projects that have to be completed first.
Here is my lastest project pics.

Wish some other model kit company would come out with their own version in styrene. Attention Trumpeter!
