Need help with charger settings on my Lead Acid battery

I was just wondering what settings I should be using on my icharger 206B with my Hanger 9 12v 7Ah sealed battery? I set the charger for PB and when I plug in 12V it comes up as a 6 cell battery, which I guess it is then. Now for the charge rate, should I be using .70A or 7.0 or what? I charged it for about 45 minutes using .70A and it still seems almost dead. I don't know much about charging or batteries. Thanks.

Yes, it is 6 cells. Charge it at 0.70 A for 10 hours, if it is discharged. In general, don't let it get really discharged. Lead-acid batteries last longer if you don't discharge them too deeply.

I've never gotten motivated enough to use my iCharger, I just use one of the 600mah wall wart pb chargers. Will the iCharger detect when the lead acid battery is full or is there really no benefit over the wall wart?

Thanks, yes it worked. The icharger does detect when it is fully charged. So far so good. My wall wart charger is broken, that's why I decided to try the icharger.

Hey how did you get on with charging your PB battery with the icharger? I was going to use my icharger 106b to charge my sons 12v 9.6ah powerwheels battery. Can you give me any pointers on fast charging and peak detection etc?

Pb (lead acid) do not use peak detection ,they use CC / CV same as LiPolys.

Set charger to Pb 6 cells and at 1A rate for 9.6Ah 12 Volt Pb battery.

On Pb batteries, try to keep the charge rate at 0.1C or lower, especially if it is a sealed gel cell type. Sealed Pb batteries do not take kindly to fast charging and no Pb batteries will tolerate overcharge well. That is why you should always use a "constant voltage/ limited current " charger for Pb. The fact that it is a constant voltage (usually set at 13.6 to 13.7 volts for a 6 cell battery) prevents any overcharge. Also remember that deep discharge will also quickly ruin a Pb battery, always recharge as soon as the resting voltage drops to 11.9 volts.

Sorry but I have a sealded AGM 12V 48Ah battery which can be charged Rapid Recharge No Amp. limit as long as it does not exceed 15.6V and battery does not exceed 125F.

A more normal (?) charge to 90% starting fully discharged is 100 Amps. for 35 minutes.

Saying that all sealed Pb should be charged at 1/10c is the same as saying same about Nicads,NiMh and do not exceed 1C for Lipolys.
