You might want to take a look at the New Forum Requests forum, with regards to members' capability to start polls in the forum.

The procedure in place is well established, and well explained, but it would appear that some members are struggling to understand that the poll for support in creation of a new forum proposal must be created by a moderator or administrator, after the required 50 members who support the request have been gathered.

It would be worthwhile, IMO, restricting the capability to post polls in the forum, to ensure that the proper procedures are followed.

The thread linked to above also contains a very large number of off topic posts, which are not discussing the proposal, Contrary opinions to the proposal have also been met by posts which attempt to denegrate those posters. It is not a new phenomenon but it is also notable that at least one brand new sign up has immediately gravitated to that thread and seems to be carrying some baggage. An IP check of new user falling pieces would seem to be in order
