It look me a while, (being a cheapskate and and having plenty of brushed motors), but once you change, you see the advantages almost instantly.
It's like changing from nicad/nimh to Lipo as well. The initial weight difference, (so much lighter), would make a noticeable difference even if you just ran the same prop at the same speed.
The only slight down side, is converting short nosed models to brushless and Lipo, and then having to add loads of lead to get the CG right. (Been there, done that).
Now if only I could find a really useful roll for some brushed motors, gearboxes, and belt drives.
