i want to measure thrust of some motor,prop,esc
combos i have laying around the junkpile, what do you use to measure thrust?
Im still trying to convince myself to dump all the brushed stuff, but need to
Compare wattmeter,wieght and thrust readings before it happens.

Many folks just do the simple "do it yourself" stand

With all the prop tests that have been done already, you probably don't need to measure thrust. Just measure rpm and use other peoples thrust data.

There's an excellent thrust calculator at Flybrushless.com. With a database of over 300 props, there's a good chance that yours will be in there.

It look me a while, (being a cheapskate and and having plenty of brushed motors), but once you change, you see the advantages almost instantly.
It's like changing from nicad/nimh to Lipo as well. The initial weight difference, (so much lighter), would make a noticeable difference even if you just ran the same prop at the same speed.

The only slight down side, is converting short nosed models to brushless and Lipo, and then having to add loads of lead to get the CG right. (Been there, done that).

Now if only I could find a really useful roll for some brushed motors, gearboxes, and belt drives.

Yeah that's the rub, my newbie self is converting a GWS mustang brushless, laid hands on one of those discontinued Towerpro 2408 motors with the long threaded shaft. After bolting it on a cut down stick mount adapter and CA'ing an adapter into the prop I'm using, the assembly will stick almost 35mm out of the cowl of the plane (the gap from cowl to spinner edge). No problem, cut back the stick mount some to fit. Except the stick only projects out of the firewall 30 mm.

Looks like some more surgery is in order, and I think I'll still end up with an ugly spinner gap.

long string and a hanging fish scale. you might find one for small light fish. tie the string to the tail wheel and fish hook.
