Is this easy to fly on 3s if I drop in a 30 amp esc? My 800 FMS FW 190 flies on 3s and man it rips. Also does it land well?

I've no doubt that the airframe could handle a 3 cell's extra grunt but, without some modification, you will only be able to fit a small pack as the battery compartment is small. I used to run my 800 series FMS "Jug" on 3s and it was a blast.
I'd say it would land at a similar speed to the FMS models which seem to glide on forever.

I have no problem hollowing out foam for the batteries to fit as my FW required the same thing. I have been flying with a 1000 mah 3s and I hope I can do that with this plane. I will have to pull the trigger on this next month since I just got a back up eflite hurricane.

The Hurri has a ply plate under the lipo which you would have to remove. I'm not sure how important this is the the integrity of the airframe/wing mount. Perhaps other's who have gone that route will chime in.

I have room for my NanoTech 2s 1300. They are same height and width as the 2S 850, but 15mm longer - there is plenty of room lengthwise, the height/width are the limiting measurements...

Just for the fun of it - I just tried with a NanoTech 3cell 1300 25-50c, and they will fit with a minimal shave on the ridges off the inside of the hatch - but it makes the plane way to nose heavy,, the wing loading will increase, no doubt ruining the sweet handling, and there is in my opinion not a single reason to use 3 cell in this plane. It already have thrust over 1:1 and it is a warbird, not a 3D plane...

And I must ask again, why run this plane on 3-cell? It is (for its size) a good looking warbird with plenty scale details and more than enough power on 2-cell.
It has a trust/weight ratio over 1:1 with the stock setup, and will perform all warbird aerobatics without any hesitation. It is not a 3D plane, and a Hurricane is not the ideal starting point for a Reno Racer either. If it is a pylon racer you are looking for, why not start out with a more suitable airframe, like the FunFighter series from J-Power?

I cannot see any reason to fly this on 3 cell, so could anybody please enlighten me? I have no problem seeing the need for 3cell in the 800mm FMS warbirds (I have 6 of those), they are clearly lacking power when run on 2 cell, but this one is not...

I figured this plane was very comperable to what the 800 scale fms warbirds are like which is why my FW is on 3s. What speeds are you guys getting with it? I dont mind flying on 2s, I just get worried that I will get bored with it pretty quick. Also with a 12 amp esc, does it get hot quick? I have a 20 amp lying around that I could throw in it.

No problem with my Stock ESC so far...
I took a couple of pics to illustrate what fits:
First pic is a 3 cell 850, fits without any modifications.
Next, 3 cell 1300, small modification of hatch required.
Last pic shows these two batteries compared to the one I fly with - 2 cell 850.
Posted video of the Hurri flying with 2 cell 850 in post #45 in this thread...

This has no real need for 3s. It certainly doesn't need the extra weight, either. I will probably get another, as I messed mine up due entirely to pilot error, and because I tinkered with it a bit too much! -------Metalguy
