Went 164 with the Bee I built. Need to build one for myself now that the owner has it

Very nice Alex....and interesting... 165 and 166 are where I maxed out my 2 heavies.
Do you think you can get more out of one?
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get anything done on my builds for a week.

I had a lot of fun with my 40ozer yesterday. I've got to get back on top of this build. I've ended up with 3 hitec 2.4 systems that I can use so the plan is a self contained turnkey furball

Smacked my Bee up last week.
Getting a little too cocky with my DS acro and I pancaked it in upside down right on top of the ridge.
She's not too pretty but will clean up reasonably well.
Better get going on my new ones.

I spent a few minutes prepping the servos, horns, and clevises.
Also glued back in the tops of the servo bays.
Next up will be the sub trailing edges.

Have you flown that site again Alex (dilmah ridge I mean). My memory of it is a little foggy, but that site was just epic!

Nope. Haven't managed to get out to it. Its 10min further and when Wainui works well, I am reluctant to go try something new

Are you building the Bee 2 or the original?

I decided to use .22x.090 carbon for the TEs because I got a good deal on some at Goodwinds.
The original Bee cores need the trailing edges trimmed even if you aren't adding the subTE spars because they come unfinished. The Bee II cores need trimming because they are very thin at the TE and I wanted to use the carbon full width with limited sanding. I ended up trimming quite a bit, almost 1/4". I doubt it will be noticeable in flight.
You can trim with an exacto and a straight edge or a sanding block if you prefer.
The BeEvo cores fit perfectly without any trimming.
I use thinned goop to attach the TE spars and tape them in place for a night.

I used .25" fiberglass rod instead of the .24" carbon tube that comes with the kits. Got the FG pretty cheap too at Goodwinds.com. (about $1.50 for 48")
I goop in the spars one core at a time.

I can't figure out how to stuff all the spars in and still have room for the pushrods so I have to cut the FG rod just short of where the pushrods will go. If you want, you can stuff a short piece of rod past the servos but it won't do much except add a few grams. This is definitely the weak spot in my build.
