I am not sure what to make of it. The motor and batteries are the same as the stock Genius. The blades look as if they may be made of carbon fiber. I wonder whether this is the deluxe edition of the Genius or intended to replace it completely?

Your got wrong Specification, I saw it from 9imod

it's not a 100 size heli as far as I can see. Main rotor diameter is 462mm and it uses 3S 1000mAh batteries. Seems to be a smaller successor of the V370D05.

What I posted was the original description posted on the 9imod and AliiExpress websites. It was 9imod that got the wrong specification in the first place and they have since changed the description on their page.

Great news!

I just received a great news from walkera,
ALL Walkera series radio can be compatible with DEVO series helicopters now!

BUT they didn't told me more details about how to use it .

Let me guess, they noticed the devo hacking thread. And will release a firmware update of their own.

That is terrific news one01! I wonder if that also means that the devos can be updated to be backwards compatible with older aircraft so I can just use my 8s for everything. I think most people would appreciate backwards compatibility...

I don't think this would be possible . they are push DEVO radio to the market for a long time . and all new helis are DEVO series .

It is absolutely possible, just a matter of a firmware upgrade (at least for the upgradable ones)...

It does look like its going to need a brushless conversion though. And a scale body.

We all know there brushed motors get hot quick plus it only flew for 2.20 minutes. BL is the only way to go. The didn;t even try FFF.

If Walkera doesn't do it, someone will do it for them. Not only, it can control Spektrum DSM2 and Nine Eagles J6 aircraft as well.

http://www.deviationtx.com/

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=915

Major features include:

Support for multiple protocols without any modifications to the transmitter:
Walkera Devo 6/7/8/10/12
Walkera WK2401/WK2601/WK2801
Nine Eagles J6 Pro
DSM2
DSMx (in progress)
Support for other protocols with very easy transmitter modifications
Flysky/Turnigy 9X
Support for up to 255 different models
Transmitter can act like a USB drive. Managing models, configuration, and themes is as easy as copying a file...No more need to use the Walkera DfuSe tool.
Fully configurable themes including bitmaps, fonts, and colors
Flexible transmitter configuration. Support up-to 12 channels on a Devo8; remap any switches or buttons to any purpose

Apparently, the word is that the Deviation project has now got Walkera's blessing. Although I am not sure whether they will support it openly because of legal ramifications.

They're probably scared now that everyone will start running third party firmware. But if the official firmware doesn't also support DSM2 and DSMX (Spectrum radios use the same RF chip and support for them on the Devo is just a matter of software) then they won't be able to head it off.
