Cessna 152/172/182 Plans 1/12th scale

Hi All,

I am looking for plans or a kit (sub $60 if kit) for a 1/12 scale cessna 150/52/72/82. Any suggestions. I heard the Guillows C172 kit can be converted. Any heard how well that will fly?

Cheers,
Josh

I built the Guillow's 172 kit. It flew great on 7 cells with a speed 400 direct. I had mine set up 4 channel.

Unfortunately I crashed it due to inexperience and snap stall. I had set the elevator throw way too high trying to get tighter loops. I snapped it into a dive into the concrete after telling my flying buddy "Hey check this out.." Never say that!

I had flown it probably a couple dozen times up to that point. It got lots of compliments about it's realism in flight. It will fly again someday though.

Cessna 172

Gerald,

I have seen some really nice models in the past, but you have topped them all. Your work on the C-172 is amazing. That has imspired me enough to try the conversion. Any additional building, conversion, or general tips you would like to share would be great. I am going to pick up the kit today. I hope you get your in the air again!

Thanks so much.

Geez that is one very nice Cessna! I am looking for a 150 or 152 kit for e-power R/C myself. Everyone seems to love the 172/182's for some reason. Nice birds though

ME WANTS A 150!!!!

OK, I am back on my meds now

150/152

Mike,

I know that Guillow's makes a 152 kit. Unfortunately it is a much smaller kit, too small for r/c. But I imagine with a Kinkos and the plans from Guillow's, you could get a set of plans the size you like. From there it would take a lot of hand carving.

I purchased my 172 kit last night. Looking forward to building it up. I also wanted a 152 originally, but then I realized that the extra cabin space would be nice for my electronics.

Cheers,
Josh

Guillow's C-170

I have one suggestion for a metal Cessna single: Guillow's at one time kitted an r/c C-170, about 44 inches in span. Flies nicely on a Tee Dee, 2-channels. Mine is silk-and-doped finish, weighs 25 ounces ready-to-fly, nearly 300 square inches. The upshot of the matter is that the plans have pattern sheets, so that it could be scratchbuilt if you were determined. Or perhaps a laser-cutter could make good use of the pattern sheets. Not easy to build, but very realistic when done. Maybe John Pond has the plans? Or somebody has a kit to offer you?
