Megajets Mirage 2000 Build Guide
Here is the build guide for Megajets Mirage 2000.

A cheap and very easy to build foam kit using basic tools, some hot glue, and light sanding. One of the fastest pusher jets in the Megajets line. Incredible flying quality. If youre looking for an inexpensive fast airframe, the M2k is highly recommended.

Parts needed to complete:
- up to 5oz motor (pref brushless)
- 400 type motor stick mount/square stick(I like e-flite's Part #: EFLM1915)
- speed control
- 2 or 3 micro servos (hitec hs55-65ish 9g)
- micro receiver
- .21 dia carbon fiber tube 20" long (optional second spar 14")
- optional for high speed on leading edge of wing x2 .21 dia carbon fiber tube 10" long
- hot glue/foam safe glue
- packaging tape
- 1/32 music wire
- micro control horns
- elevon mixing abilities

Peel the lamination off of the intake sides, fuse sides, fuse top, fuse bottom, nose top, canopies, turtle deck top and turtle deck sides.
Peel one side of the nose all the way to the intake on the main wing, and near the rear on the main wing where you will be gluing the intake sides from......see pic #4 for peeling areas on the main wing. Basically peel everything but the main wing itself on 1 side of the main wing.
Locate the main wing, vertical stab, rudder(optional), and elevons.
Sand all of the leading edges of the horizontal stab, and main wing to a nice aerodynamic point. Sand the trailing edges too if you like. Protect the leading edge by wrapping it with packaging tape.
Sand the elevons and rudder at about a130 degree angle to create the hinge, and wrap with tape...As seen in the second pic.
Tape the elevon and rudder to their respective places. Making sure they swing freely. Slide a piece of sand paper between where it rubs, or sand down the control surface before mounting.

Cut the carbon tubes to length.
Lay the 20" carbon tube in a good spot on the wing not too close to any edges. Trace around with a pen and cut out a channel for it.
The leading edge spars and rudder spars are optional, but recommended for high speeds and more stability. Install the 10" leading edge spars the same way, about 1 1/4" away from the leading edge.

Start in the front by gluing the intake sides to the main wing. ONLY GLUE THE FIRST 2" UP UNTIL THE WING ROOT and in the back exhaust area....seen in pics 2 and 5.
Next glue the fuse side in place. The important part here is when you glue the fuse side on make sure that step where the canopy is going to go lines up with the front of the intake sides.....as seen in pic 3 and 4.
You should end up with something like pics 6 and 7

Locate the vertical stab/rudder.
Cut and glue in your stick/motor mount in the slot cut in the vert. stab.
You may want to reinforce the stick with balsa.
Mount your motor and glue the Vertical stab STRAIGHT down the middle of the main wing in the rear. Test fit the fuselage top so the slot fits perfectly around the vertical stabilizer.

Mount all of your electronics as far forward as you can. Glue down the stuff that has to be in a certain place first. This is why we're waiting on the elevon servos for now.
Try to make sure your elevon servos will reach your receiver easily preferably without any extensions.

Quick Balance test.
Now we have to be concerned about the balance or CG of the plane.
On the bottom of the main wing, make a mark 5.5" back from the wing root....That is where the front of the wing meets the fuselage.
Just put the elevon servos on the wing where you might like them mounted. Not too close to the hinge.
Put the battery in and throw on top the fuse top and turtle deck pieces and canopy pieces. You are going to do a quick CG test to see if you need to move the battery forward or back or possibly move your elevon servo mounting spot forward or back. The last thing you want to do is add weight to the plane to balance it after you're all finshed. The plane should come close to balancing on your finger tips 5.5" back from the lead edge wing root.

Now that you know exactly where the elevons are going to be located. Trace, with a pen, around the servo on the foam and cut that out of the foam.
Tape over the hole on the underside of the main wing.
Put some glue on the tape and around the edges on the top side and put the servo in.
Make sure you mount these elevon servos exactly the same. The plane will control better if they are the same distance away from the hinge and fuselage as each other.
Install the optional rudder servo the same way at this time.
Plug everything in and make sure everything works correctly.
Your right elevon servo will go forward when you roll right. Your left elevon servo will go aft when you roll to the right. They both will go forward when pulling back on the stick, and aft when pushing forward on the stick. Do all of your servo mixing and set up now, because sometimes you need to switch the elevator and aileron plugs around at the receiver to get it right.

Start gluing in the front near the intakes with the fuse top, working to the rear.
Glue the vertical stab to the fuse top and glue the intake sides the rest of the way to the main wing now also.

Canopy and Finishing.
Glue/laminate all of the canopy pieces together and sand to fit.
Connect all of the control rods and control horns.
Finish by sanding all of the corners and carve the canopy to shape.
Check the CG 1 more time. 5.5" back from the wing root.
Ready to fly. I hold the model from the top and give it kind of an underhand toss....Or just go full throttle and point it straight up :-)
