They say it's specifically for video, and then make it + configuration only. Fail.

Anyone try this thing out yet? I'm wondering how much it can lift. SLR?

I got it a few days ago.

It is possible to mount the landing gear in X-setup. You just need 4 longer M3 screws as the delivered one in my opinion.

First I changed the tubes from the original 23cm ones to 40cm ones.
Ordered a ZYX-S to control the Quadrocopter (a few days before the new KK2 board was released...). Motors will be NTM 3035-1100kv with 11x5.5 APC-E propeller and 30A HobbyKing Blue Series ESCs.

But it will take time till I can fly it.
The Quality is great! The aluminium frame has excellent finish and the landing gear is made of carbon rods! Unbelievable for that price...

It sounds quiet heavy, do you think it can lift a Go Pro and FPV gear?

That's exactly what I want to do.
So my setup should lift a GoPro with FPV transmitter easily.

Another good point about this Quadcopter is that the weakest point will be the aluminium tubes.
So if the quad crashes they will be bent. And I paid around 8$ for all four of them.
That is ways cheaper then all the other parts of the quad and you can buy aluminium tubes nearly everywhere.

A GoPro, yes. An SLR? I'm assuming probably not. Probably have to go with a 6 prop machine, yes?

i've got me one also.

to me it looks like they designed it to be + and thought in the last minute that a X type would be better for apv/ap.

when putting the landing gear on as X the gear sits very tight to the nuts for the arms.
if used in + one can use the threads inside the gear and have room enough..

bit it is a nice frame once it's all bolted together!

the stock gear is reused for my Flathexa, i cut it in half... lol

the HAL will be getting the new KKv2 board once it arrives.
HK 30A esc's
park 450 (C2830) 850 KV motors
for props i will try 10X5 or 11X4.7 and maybe 9X5
lipo's will be 3S, i have several 3000, 3600 and 5000 mAh 30C lipo's, so any of those will be used..

i will be using a 500 heli type landing skid.

the use of the HAL is yet to be determined.. maybe FPV, or light AV. or maybe just bashing around

With a hexacopter it should be no problem.
Maybe the HAL can do it too with enough power, but because of the lever arm of the tubes the frame has to carry a quite heavy load.
When I have everything together I can try how much the HAl can lift.

@ dutchcommando
I bought the HAL from Turnigy because it is a cheap possibility to try out some things.
The aluminium tubes can be replaced easily and they cost not that much compared to a CF tube.

I look forward to hearing about the tests. Looks like it's quickly becoming a popular quad for the price.

Wow that does look nice :0 I am sure it could be fitted with some carbon fiber tubes to lower the weight even more and be stronger... and less then 35 bucks WOW

Nope! I have crashed mine and the only thing that was bent was the motor mount plate. NO harm to the arms at all.
I have made my flight tests and also check vibrations on the frame, check here for description and videos: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1665406

Any questions are welcome but I can tell you this is the best frame I have met until now for AP in the price range below 150$.
