Split Slope thread into Slope-Sites&Events and Slope-Models?

Hi,
I am not a frequent poster, but read here quite often.
To me the mixture of Sites' and Events' names mixed with Models' names is often confusing. Especially as a lot of names do not easily reveal the nature of their realm - site, event or model. Since I live in a different part of the world the sites and events discussed also are quite meaningless to me.

This confusion could be cleared by splitting Aircraft-Sailplanes -> Slope into two
  • Aircraft-Sailplanes -> Slope-Sites+Events
  • Aircraft-Sailplanes -> Slope-Models
What do you think? Feasible? Or should I just learn the names of your sites and events and live with the status quo?

The whole point is that everything slope related is in one place.
I'm not even sure why DS was split away.

No. And I think there's a slope locator thread here that would do most of what you are talking about. Thank you for your idea's though. Btw have you checked out all the photo's I posted on Alert/ Green's Peak/Prodjx. Sat 35-45 and gusting to 60 and there was snow behind the tree line. TTYL Dave

The slope section has evolved into mostly regional chat groups, which is a pity in a way, as some good information, photos and videos get hidden away in those regional threads, and don't always get seen by people who don't live and fly in that particular region.

But I wouldn't be for splitting anything up, it's a move in principle I believe is seldom good. The recent splitting of ALES away from electric sailplanes is a case in point. It's a move in the wrong direction IMO, as I now never read anything about ALES anymore ... Same with DS. Both are areas that I don't fly, but would still find interesting stuff in amoung the rest.

There are also certain slope-related subjects that wouldn't fit under either category proposed...

Live with it - slope models are flown at slope sites

meanwhile - ignore all the "stickies" with events !
(I do - probably most other folks do too!)

There are regional forums anyway if you want local chatter, but the slope flyers that gather on this forum are always open to answer question such as where is that site in the photo? There has also from memory been a number of threads called your slope site or similar ,which have been filled with photos and chat about where we all fly the searxh function sort that out quick for you ,also there is slople.com which gives a map and location for just about every slope in the world. Stickies are useful when a club or a group has a get together and want to make sure that people who want to attend don't have to go digging through the pages to keep up to date . The forum works and works well as is.
So I wouldn't like to see it split further than whats happen already with the DS thread.
