Help!
Mystic 29 Prop and Batteries

A friend of mine is looking for a boat. We have settle on the Mystic. We were looking at both the standard 4s and the hotter 6s setup.

What do you think about these batteries?
2s - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html
3s - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

We are fully aware that the esc will need to change for a 6s setup. How is this? Just a cheap option.

And what prop recommendations are there?

batteries Mah are good. go with 40-45C though. ESC should be alright amp wise. I dont have any experiance with that ESC in particular. I run my mystic with an M445, sometimes an X440/3, sometimes an x442. dpends on water conditions wind yada yada yada. The m445 is my best all around prop so far. However, my hull is truning a higher KV motor than stock. Id start with an x442 or a P220

Spring for this ESC instead, it's a much better option:

I'd also agree that you want 40c packs, the turnigy 2s5000mah 40c packs are like $23 each still.

If you're going to run 6s, you'll want to stay small with the props. It will be ok with an m445 on 4s, but I don't think the motor can handle it on 6s.

Why 6s????????? Its just abuse on the motor and driveline. If you want more speed on 4s run an m445 or x642................. When you go to 6s you have to prop way down then you may only gain 8-10 mph at most over the stock setup with good prop.

Thanks and ok to all,
I thought 6s was just a run of the mill mod for this boat. We are just considering any simple mods. I should also state that we don't have lakes and stuff like that so the water will be "quite" a bit more choppy. A larger prop would be better so 4s seems like more sense.

proboatronnie,
Let us know how much fun you have!

Now for potential future mods,
Would a 40mm diameter motor fit? They have the same mounting plate. If so I was thinking a 4072. The batteries will remain the same so it would be 4s optimized.

You can fit a 4074 or 4082, but it's overkill in that hull. You can get it going much faster without touching the motor.

Overkill...nah. A little extra weight and toque will only help with where it will be running.

I'm all eyes (get it - reading ) on how to make it faster. It will be the only electric in a scene of gassers. They must fear electric.

Lots of people are putting 4074's in theirs, just look on youtube. Might be overkill but its better to be sure

If you're going to run a bigger motor, you need to go higher kv too so you're not trying to spin too big of a prop (more diameter = more torque side effects).
