Always nice to see more competition for the other brands, but dropping 9x compatbility seems like a big deal breaker for most. I estimate at least half of the popularity of the V911 is due to that.

I completely agree. Love seeing new helis. But I feel like they are shooting themselves in the foot there. They made some progress with listening to feedback and implementing those feedback. But losing the T9x compatibility leaves them squarely in the "toy" realm instead of the hobby grade helis like the v911 and 9958.

James, please help them see the light. Perhaps the market they are after is the toy one after all. Like the Syma IR helis.

Paddles flybar

If that is the case, we could change the entire set: main shaft + main rotors + paddles flybar.

I won't be getting a stock Helios 100 even if its a better flyer due to the lack of 9x Tx compatibility.

IMHO, It will be ironic if the new WLToys quadcopters becomes a big hit mainly due to the claimed stock V911 Tx and 9x Tx compatibility features.

I think something was lost in translation.. turns out the PCB of the Helios is made at flysky's factory too so it is likely that it will bind to the 9x. Mr. Chan from Benma is going to WL's factory later today to find out.. keep your fingers crossed!

Tell that to the guys who have put paddles on their V911 and claim if flys better with them.

Blasphemer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They do work. When the breeze is strong enough to turn the blades while you hold the heli in your hand, you can see the paddles being pushed down in the direction of the wind.

I'll let Erdnuckle attest to their effectiveness, who was a non-believer until he tried them.

Apparently there are 3 helis that are going to be in the initial Helios family... the 100, 110 and the 120. The 100 and 110 are the same, but one will have the V911 RX and the other will have the Helios RX. The 120 is not compatible with the 9X but has all the other improvements that are on the 100. Hope that makes sense..does that make sense?

Close to making sense, but the way they are named seems like they are different sizes (100 to a 120 size heli). So what is the real difference between the 100/120 other then flysky compatibility? Seems like there is no point having two models just for this compatibility, why not one model that is compatible, and use its own tx (which would be same/similar to v911 tx)

Now it sounds like the dudes making this thing have been scared by the backlash made by people worried about the lack of compatibility, which is a good thing, cos they are obviously listening (thanks to you jameschen )

How about adding a letter behind "Helios 100"? Helios 100A - V911 RX; Helios 100B - ??? RX... Keep the 100 constant as it refers to the size appropriately.

Hi James thanks for the info as always.

Personally i would have just made the Helios with the same protocol and incorporated the changeable servos and better battery connectors , being honest i wouldnt have even changed the servos just the battey connectors/skids/paddles and maybe relooked at the swash.

Once i was happy with the outcome ( the modder in us all would be happy i think with those changes ) i would have tried either a "150" or "200" size with changeable servos etc but which would still bind to the existing TX's and then looked maybe towards a brushless conversion and also a 6axis gyro system.

Either way with the new news im pretty sure i will buy a Helios at some point.

Hey guys I've made the suggestion and Mr. Chan (boss of Benma) decided to go with 100 and 100S, the S being the one with independent servos... I guess the reasoning behind it being that cars, phones and all sorts of electronics have the S designation on upgraded or updated models. The 120 will still be called the 120 because it is relevant to the size. He also said that the first flybarless prototypes from WLToys and Benma should be finished within the next month..but due to the prices of the boards and servos, it would not come close to what the Helios series/V911 costs...yet! Time will tell!

If those FBL would also be V911/9x-transmitter-compatible, I foresee a big dent in my toy-budget

The popularity of the V911 is due to durability, dirt cheap prices, and stability. I don't have a 9x, which isn't compatible with my Genius or Nine Eagles brands.
