Came with the plug N play L-39 from here:

Same type motor/fan combo I am using now in my L-59.

The 8S is a 6 blade fan, link here:

I used the 8S in both the L-39 and the BAe Hawk

Does anyone have somewhere in mind I might be able to get some nav lights for this baby? Is there a particular size I need and colours etc? Ive seen one set on HK but not sure if they will be long enough or are the correct lights for this model. Surely someone here has done the same thing with theirs!

Cant finish the wing off until Ive put the LEDs in.

Thanks!

These are about as good as you can get in the wing. Fit perfectly.

Wow they are amazingly bright considering the sun! All your lights come from HK?

Thanks for the quick reply.

These are the other lights I am using. Haven't flown the model yet but I'm doubting they will be visible on a bright day. They are cheap though. Need to find a much bigger strobe really. Bit pointless unless they show up in flight if you ask me.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ght_Unit_.html

Hobbyking L-39 Lighting (0 min 58 sec)

I have 4 of the 12 set cluster LEDs for the "headlights" on the front wing tanks on order.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17189

I don't want any lights that can't be seen at least on a cloudy day.

Urrl I have the same strobe lights but they don't seem to be that bright even in dark I'm using 1 cell battery to power it , how many cells are you using as yours seem to be bit brighter

It's funny, we all want super bright lights for our models but on the real thing they really aren't noticeable until nighttime!

For power on my L-59 I use an extreme rc alloy EDF body , a HET 700 size 1680kv motor and a Wemotec Midi fan rotor. With 8 cell Lipo it produce 4 kilos plus of thrust. I am going to move the fan unit about 4cm forward but I have problem with the thrust line. The thrust line must be paraller with the line that connect the leading with the trailing edge of the wing or not? If I had fit the EDF unit in it's former position the thrust line would be upthrust and not paraller with the wing line. Is it right or wrong? Which would be the right thrust line of the EDF unit? As the unit it's lower than the inlet tube if I fit an inlet ring on the EDF body and make a gap between the inlet ring {lip} and the inlet tube about 3cm would I have any problem?

refer to the pictures on page 68 post 1006

I used the intake ring aswell but had to cut a flat spot so the hatch would close. The intake was inserted into the intake ring. Worked perfect.

A couple more pics on page 67.

New L-59 body came in today. I must admit it was boxed well. No damage. I will probably start work when the landing gear and lighting arrive.

Hi,
Finally started building my L59 that was sleeping in its box since...Last September I think
Now, when it comes to install the fan I just discovered that HK sent me an incomplete CS 12 fan. There is only one shaft adapter on the box (the 5mm one), no screws, nothing. The grub screws I can find some, But he thing is that I need the 8mm adapter, since the HET 700-68 motor I bought has a 8mm shaft (made a mistake when I ordered it).
I contacted the HK customer service, but guess what? Of course they just gave me the usual blurb. In short: "Dear valued customer, bla bla bla, sorry we cannot do anything about your problem..."
Once again Hobbyking proves how much they DO NOT care the least about the people, us, who so unwisely spend their money there.
Just added a picture of how came my fan, so you know...
Jeff
