Super Sixty and Sig Kadet Senior Autogyro conversions

Hi All

I had banned myself from building any more Autogyros for a bit....not enough room time or money!
This lasted for about a week then I decided that converting an existing aeroplane wouldn't count so i set about a really old Super Sixty that has had plenty of not so careful previous owners. I had rescued it from my mate who was going to bin it!!

Reduced the fin and rudder in heght and increased the length, chopped the elevator off and built a mast out of bits and bobs, based on the Panther but longer and beefier. Power is an OS 48 Surpass.

How does it fly? well a bit like a Super sixty but even slower!! Had five flights and its proved itself worthy so I've completely stripped it for a recover (no not blue this time!!) and will sort a neater solution for securing the mast.

Cheers

Rich

Rich,
Excellent work it just looks like it is 'meant to be'. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh in its new clothing.
I bet Penn have run out of blue? that's the only reason! Fire engine red perhaps?

Bit of an update

Stripped it for a recover and was glad I did, not much was glued to anything else and the fuz floor was made of a piece of tongue and groove floorboard!!

All back together now and I've managed to tidy up the mast mount a bit. Shame the winds going to blow for a week

Cheers

Rich,
I really like the conversion and the new covering job, have you filled in the windscreens and beefed it up around that area? mine has plastic windows and its framed in 1/4" balsa strips.

You always amaze me with your covering jobs, even more so knowing that its a recover ( I hope it was done on blue watch)

Looking forward to seeing it soon

Thanks for your comments guys,
Rich the plastic windscreen was a thing of the past when I got it....it had had the wing through it a couple of times apparently and had been blocked in with balsa so I just sheeted over the side windows with some 1mm ply to make it all look the same....all helps to make it rigid!!

See you all soon

Fortunatly the rain stopped and the sun came out for an hour after work so I managed to persuade the cameraman up the field for a quick flight and video.

Flies even better after the recover....due I think to more nose weight thanks to the heavier uc and strengtheneing round the mast

Super Sixty Autogyro Conversion (2 min 7 sec)
