More info?

Tim or Howard

Is the new Hard Deck module an add-on to the existing Co-Pilot II or a new (i.e. replacement) system?

The video is cute but useless as far as info goes.

Thanks

John

I'm already in line

I am pretty sure it's an add on module, co-pilot is a proven system, I've used it successfully on a Stryker that flow in the low 140 mph range

Placement of the main sensor is a bit tricky depending on the airframe, ie FunJet

I installed a Co-Pilot II system in a PZ P-51 Mustang,
I will be using this model to test the HD module once it's released

Since the stock power system is relatively slow, I used a high gain setting

85% pitch
75% roll
Auto trim instead of flight angle

The unit performance was flawless, I purposelly put the plane in unusual attitudes, centered the stick, and CP put it back level

Power off landings were gentle, given the 10-15 mph wind that kept changing direction, I did have to correct for heading, since my mustang does not have a rudder servo installed.

Looking forward to the HD module being released

1:16 it got interesting

Hi,

It is an add on module that will connect to the CPII computer module. We are working on posting some videos showing the operation. The system works by selecting a hard deck altitude (there is a minimum altitude that can be set), fly above the set altitude and have fun. Try new maneuvers, practice stunts, whatever you want, hit the hard deck and the Co-Pilot will activate and level your aircraft out, preventing you from loss of control and a ground strike. You will no longer have to worry about throwing a switch on your transmitter to activate the Co-Pilot. It will recover you aircraft from any attitude.

Thanks, Howard. I pretty much assumed that was the case. So it's basically an altimeter/GPS height sensor that cuts in and drives the stabiliser when you come down to a preset height?

Great idea - I need it now.

Hi,

This is only hard deck, no GPS. GPS was not accurate or fast enough to stop a falling aircraft. We are talking fractions of a second, the 2 second delay in a GPS is like an eternity, especially with helicopters.

Oooh that's totally cool. Now, maybe I'll postpone buying a new heli and spend my money on this. I have my CPII already waiting for this add-on.

Thank you so much for the video and the voice over which explains what you were trying to do and what the HD did to recover. Very nice.

Thanks.
Rico.

video is back up

May try to crop it a little more to bring the heli closer in only to the point to maintain resolution.

If you see it down, it won't be down for long.
