If you look up the way from where you placed the map there is a square. It's off Shaw Lopez road or something. Anyone checked that out as a LZ?

Here's a video from last weekend at SEFSD. Chasing one of the guys.

I would be interested in the LZ Coordinates ... it looks like that there are multiple power lines going across that field...

Andy, I fly the other side of the canyon from that.... The wind is usually better and you get a lot of updraft at this old glider spot. The property is owned by the school district, so when you go out on that point, you have a great spot to fly where you put coordinates..... I used to work in that building, and nobody is around on the weekend.

Where I setup my stuff:
LATLONG: 32.90641, -117.19635
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&l...08256&t=h&z=18

Parking spot:
LATLONG: 32.90550, -117.19654

I was thinking 10ish, because I want a bit of sleep this weekend... but I could do any time really. I was going to be there on Thursday morning, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning to work on my gear with Otto.

No power lines super close there... you walk out along the path, and there are hand launch zones in all directions, depending on wind direction. The power lines are pretty far west down the canyon, I usually fly to the east from that point.... You park behind the buildings, right near the dumpster in the corner of the lot, and that will take you closest to the cliff. It's a short haul (<150 feet).

For landing pad, I landed my Skywalker there a few times, belly landed. There is a giant gentle slope that is east/south facing, so most of the time, I just belly land my planes at the top of this giant grass slope.... no flat spots for landing gear, but plenty forgiving... My buddy lands his Hobie Hawk, and other more delicate german gliders there on that field all the time..... I've landed my ZII, and all my other planes that don't have landing gear no problem. I like long pants there just for the tick factor, however.

Since we have some cool pilots coming, we should coordinate a shot.

I tried this before, and it turned out kinda good, except the lighting was way different in the different shots, because it was actually 2 different days. I would love to do the superman flying gig where we fly superman, film him from Quadcopters from multiple angles, get some close fly-by's. It looks awesome when you fly superman across the Qualcomm building. It's like you are in Gotham city or something, when you can just show the building.

We need to get the Qualcomm logo in there too, so they may kick some sponsorship in the future.

Then fly our planes doing the exact same (at least similar) lines that superman did, then edit it up like we have a superman FPV. We could do a sequence of these, that I think would look really cool, all over San Diego and Socal. Of course at least the next Comicon

I also have a light, 200mW Transmitter setup that maybe we could actually try setting up Green Lantern (who's performance envelope is more aggressive than Superman, and could probably handle a BIT more weight) FPV.

I think we may need to move to a new thread, the Sorrento Valley meet up. I want to direct this shot if possible.... I'd learn a lot about coordinating with other FPV pilots, and I think it would be a worthy exercise.

All of these shots were taken at the spot I am talking about.....
As for that shot... something like this:

And This:

And This:

It's dark, but that big grass slope is a major landing spot.....

I'm game for one of the weekend days. I'd say target 3d Robotics as more of a sponsor. You'll get more value add from them..
