motor for 2m pattern/sport plane
I have a 2 meter pattern/sport plane that I converted from nitro 1.80 four stroke to electric. Running on 10s and using a Hacker A60-20s V2 28P motor the plane simply does not fly properly. I am forced to fly at 80% throttle stick, verticals are weak, and the plane just seems to drag through the air instead of fly on the wing and cruise.
I believe I need a motor that can run a smaller prop at higher rpm than this hacker is happy to run. The Hacker seems to want a 22" in prop range, but due to airframe limitations I am forced to run an 18" prop.
Can anyone recommend a motor that will give this 14 lb airframe unlimited performance on an 18" propeller?
I am using a Castle Creations 80HV esc. The version before the ice series came along.

The Hacker A60-20S likes a 18-19inch prop. A few years back we ran the A60-20S on 11lb pattern planes. Since then most have switched too a lower KV motor and run 20.5-21" props. For a 14lb plane you need a bigger motor. Possibly the A60-M series. with a Kv of about 200 on 10s. You might want to consider 12S since on 10S we are pushing 75-95Amps on a 10-11lb plane.
