i'm pretty far into the build, bottom duct is glued on and bulkheads/cockpit are installed. Found a site with the Blue Angel scheme and I'm going for it panel lines will be sharpied on. I have a mcross 30mm bl fan with a castle thunderbird esc i can use but all my decent servos are pretty messed up,what are you guys using?

ended up using my UMX Beast guts that were going into a Guillows Pilatus Turbo Porter(a project for october)

here's a few pics of progress, i messed up and used to wide of a wing spar so i've had to re fit parts as i go.

nice thing is I'll have AS3x for nice harriers

Alright, I have finished!

I had to rush the job as I start college in just a couple days. I'm happy that it hasn't fallen apart as it is the first RC aircraft that I have built. (That's right, I haven't built anything that I fly!) Hopefully it flies in the morning.

Can anyone tell me the proper CG? All stock F-86 gear.

What a great combination!!.. rushed job, first build, unknown CG - PLEASE video the maiden!

Seriously, the CG is on the plan and I wish you luck. Theoretically, it should go well.

Sorry...long day and I had long since tossed out the templates

Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to video the maiden. The wind was a little strong (enough to make me decide to bring down my Parkzone Corsair after a minute of flying). Against all better judgement, I prepared the F-35 for flight.

Full power, 15 degree up angle, and a good chuck. I was pretty sure it was about to nosedive into the ground, but it actually flew! Very squirelly and unresponsive, but I suppose that's because I was too lazy to build the thrust vectoring system. I also think my fan airflow might be a tad bit sloppy.

Did a couple circuits around the baseball field (getting slammed around by wind the whole time) and then decided to land. Landing is actually decently easy because of how large the elevators are.

I think I'll add some camber to the wing and see if that helps my lack of lift. In the winter I'll be tempted to build one using a AR6400 board and two micro servos for ailerons too.

Congrats on the successful test flight! you might want to get more flight time on your F-35 in calm conditions before making any changes to the airframe.

Well, I took it out and it seemed calm. All of a sudden it rolled over and smashed into the ground.

No more F-35. Maybe I'll build the C version tonight.

During a flight?

Hey, at least the maiden went well! Up and down without destruction.

Yeah, one of my follow-up flights to verify flight characteristics.

I've started the C variant and I should have it finished by midnight.

The F-35C looks like a whole different beast.

Finished at 11:19 PM EST. Hopefully it flies better (and survives longer than the F-35A)
