I will post markings for the air force and navy this weak. hope this helps Sean
Thanks, that helps a lot! What do you use as pivot points on the vertical axis for the cone?

carbon rod. look at pic #19 shows fishing line tied to ply ring. carbon rod is glued to the ply tabs that are glued to the inner stationary cone. the ring has the hole. the tabs have the carbon.

Thanks Seanm. I started a 150% A model, 15 in span, giant scale it does seam big after doing the 10in. The 150% airframe weight is 32 grams. I think we can do it at 100 grams + batt. under 150. auw.
pdawg is working on some 200 gram thrust 40mm fans. This is going to be fun. Will post some pics soon.

"Au, your "giant" F-35 really looks huge sitting beside the blue one!
360 TV??? C"an you fill us in a bit?
I'm ready to build my second one and would really love to build one that can slow down enough to fly indoors in a triple gym.My present one (27mm fan) can just manage enough speed to climb slowly and at that speed is still way more than I could handle indoors....SO I'd appreciate you thoughts on; keeping the small platform electronics, Hyperflow 30mm fan and motor, increasing the 13.5"C ws by 5-10% and creating a partially undercambered wing by inclining the leading and trailing edge.
Looking forward to the C graphics! Thanks for sharing! Your thread has been a wonderful resource!

This is the 360 gimbal. It will have pull pull on the inner ring for yaw and the outer ring is for pitch. I'm not sure how to answer your questions Bill. Flying slow is a matter of wing loading. The F-35 will fly pretty slow, but it is in high alpha, at 15 to 20 degrees. It will become unstable at angles of attack higher than that. You will find that you lose control because the tailarons do not have enough authority, even with large movements, that is when the yaw cone comes into play. The wing will couple roll with yaw inputs. If this doesn't make sense let me know and I will try to explain it further.
The changes you're thinking of making to the wing will help it fly slower but at speed it will not fly right. I think it could be bad. Hope this helps.
chester your F-22 is bad a$$. I love e spirits F-22.
Bill have you done a F-22? It's much better at high alpha.

More thanks and more questions...

Thanks for the suggestions and info on the 360TV...impressive!
I have Matt Wherry's plans for a 15" F-22. Is this one you'd recommend for indoors?

page 5 post 64 10in f-22 high alpha. this is a good example of flying on the yaw cone. The F-35 will not do high alpha like that but will go about 20 degrees. As for flying slow and on step they are about the same.

Au117, can you post the 150% scaled plans? I have all the electronics for a 40mm fan setup that I'd like to use in the A variant if your design... It will be a great complement to the 30mm C I'm doing right now
