Can someone help me identify this?

Found this today, seriously in a box in a barn. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me on it, and would like to assign a value to it. Thanks in advance,
Michael

I'd give you $100 bucks for it.... It's a Hobie Hawk. You'd be lucky to get $100 for it. So I'd take it off your hands.
Seriously, look in the sailplane for sales and see what these go for. You'll probably be shocked. Ebay sometimes has crazy bidders that will run these up quite high also. Last one I had sold for $385. Some go for more, some for less. It usually depends on the condition. That one looks pretty nice. I've never seen an all white one like that. .You might be surprised what the foam crate itself would sell for also. Good luck with it.

Yep..It's a Hobie Hawk! Make sure it's only the 8' wing! I got mine for $200 but I feel like I stole it! $300-$500 seems to be the norm! Good luck!

If you keep the plane you will either love it or hate it. Do a search on Hobie Hawk and read up on the threads.

I got mine in 1974 for $100. My Mother thought I was crazy! My Dad loved it. Because I learned on it, I found it to be a really enjoyable flying plane. Some will disagree.

Hmmm....I wonder why the 8' hawk is more sought than the 10' wing...?

Hobie Hawk

Yea, this is a Classic plane. I have a Carbon verson make in the Russian states, but they are no longer made due to Epoxy Poisoning of the workers.

Funny.. I went to Naperville North my Junior year of High School. Has that town changed.... What hasn't the past 30 + years now!

Michael you have a classic '70's vintage 8' span Hobie Hawk sailplane.
If it is truly in as good of shape as your pictures show (no repairs or breaks),with foam carrier & manual..300.00 to 500.00.
Found in a box in a barn? Oh Puhlease.
If you need the instructions they're at
http://www.hobiehawk.com/hhmanual.html
If you fly it,remember to keep the speed up (as relative to other floaty thermal planes) and keep the tail higher than the canopy (if it's rigged correctly the root TE will be very low on the fuselage. The airfoil chord line not the fuselage, denotes the level flight mode).
Nice picts too.
Skies.

I think flynut may have meant don't sell for 8' prices if it is a 10'.

Yes, that's what I was getting at! Photo looks like a long wing. If it happens to be a Super Hawk (10' wing) then, of course, it's worth "a bit" more!!
