Finally! I Got the bird.

Hey guys, I've learned that I can buy another bird less than what we have..respectively speaking. At gootchrc.com, there is a rep there named Rita. You can get I contact with her at rita@gootchrc.com.

The kit cost--$60.32
The ARF cost--$104.29
The RTF cost--$137.20
I asked her how to order, being that on the website, there isn't anywhere to place an order. She said....

.. let me know how many do you want, you want order KIT,ARF or RTF,your detail address for receive the goods? and then we issue the Proforma invoice to you with the shipping costs ,after you arrange the payment to us,we send out the goods to you.

We can accept payment by T/T or Paypal. and the sipping costs not include in the price of RC eagle, after you let us know your target order quantity,we will count and check the shipping costs for you,if you can accept the shipping costs, then you can pay the shipping costs with goods costs to us together, then we can send out the goods.

So just in case y'all like to order a replacement, you have a means to.

Hi Glo
I got my eagle bird from www.gootchrc.com through Rita. quite a while back
It was ugly looking and I was charged about $40.00 shipping.

If you go back to older posts on this eagle bird you will see communition
mostly between Hardrock and myself. Hardrock was going to be a dealer
for gootchrc, com But decided against it when he could not get the sample
birds to fly hardly at all that they sent him.

Hardrock and I decided that the best way to possibly make this bird fly
would be to add some up dihedral to the wings and than use tie offs to
position the wing rods permantly inside the wing pins. and do away with the
with the up down effect of each wing with left and right control..

What I am trying to say is we thought by adding dihedral to the wings halves
we thought eagle might then be flown left and right with the Thrust vectoring
only. Sort of like flying a rudder elevator only plane with dihedral and no alerians
that should fly more stable. without each wing half going up and down in turns.
When II got the eagle I thought right away this eagles wings are too flat, they need dihedral

I also think whoever came up with the added rudder is a good idea to turn eagle
without moving. wings.
Or a brave idea would be to couple thrust vectoring moter with added rudder.
(by way of a Y harness) I would think that would make it really turn.

If you are wandering, my eagle is gathering dust in the basement.
Eagles are a beautiful and majestic bird. I will not fly this ugly bird I got
from gootchrc although I am sure some of the eagles that were sent
out likely look fine

Yeah, the wings are rather flat. I was just examining the bird right now. Like any stable kite, it needs more wash out or, it needs more of the fabric to billow. I really think this bird can fly.....but I need to use my "Ornithopter knowledge" and it's general principals to figure out what I need. As well as the rc parrot kite's flying behaviors. I have to remember that this is a "Kite" and not a "airplane"... membrane..no foil.

Hopefully this thing can survive several flight tests, I while trying to figure out how to fly it. We'll see.

Harris, I wish I had waited longer before buying mine (from Rita). I had wondered what had happened to the "import" business that was going to supply them to the US market. As far as I can see it appears that the only eagles flying are IN CHINA!! A very strange business

I am very sorry to hear that this eagle does not perform as expected. I was hoping to order one this month. I have flown the brainstorm Hawk with pretty good success. I looked over all the videos on YouTube today and all but one seems to of been edited possibly to remove moments of instability.

I know that with the brainstorm Hawk. The Center of gravity can be pretty critical for good flying. The wing warping techniques work quite well. There's no doubt that the elevator coupling on this eagle is very short. I wonder if one of the new three axis Gyro stabilizers would help this plane.

Good luck flying the RC eagle kite. It's still a neat project.

I haven't yet flown or bind a receiver to my bird. BUT.. hopefully, I would be able to fly my eagle like this guy. Even though this look like a "copy"of the eagle, I think this is the BEST video and showcase of the bird.

Enjoy

Wow! Must be something about the U.S. air that causes them not to be flyable here Maybe there are some clues in the video. He has the big battery way back on the velcro and is flying with the turtle shell looking back in place. This maybe would indicate a much more rearward CG than we(me) have been trying to fly it at.. This is further evidenced by the tail low flight attitude. More kite than airplane! I'm inspired to make a splint fix for my broken wing and try it again Aero

Harris, will it be any trouble if you could take a few pictures of your eagle you bought from Rita? I would love to see the difference if any of the birds Aero and I have purchased. I would appreciate that.

Thanks*

Hi Glo
Sorry i do not have a video camera. But the eagle from Rita was a combanation
almost solid black and brown mix. The worst part about the eagle from Rita is that
One of the wing halves is a about an inch longer from side to side and back to back
than the other wing half. Hardrock said his eagle also had one wing half larger than
the other.

On the other hand I also got an eagle from sds hobby. it was nicer looking more a
brown and white color. And also both wing halves were the same size

In the first video it looks to me like he launched the Eagle downwind. When the Eagle is coming towards him he seems to be able to slow down quite a bit and actually kite the bird into the wind.

In the second video at about 50 seconds he is showing the operation of the wing warping and the elevator. At this point it appears to me that the elevator was broken. If so no wonder the last flight ended up with a crash.

I e-mailed Rita again to get a price on just the kit. For whatever reason she will not e-mail me back, perhaps that's a good sign.

I have built my own ornithopter from plans(a clone of the park Hawk) and I can tell you that just the tension in the wings are critical for level flight let alone a kit that arrives with one wing bigger than the other.
Glo have you flown your bird yet?

No Tom. Its been in the 90/100s here. Plus, I will attempt to put a rudder or vertical fin on mine.

Well, I told Rita to see what we're talking about on this forum. She was really ready to sale me one. And I just told her that I will let her know but there may be a quality issue with her eagles based on some of the guy's experience here. I even expressed something similar to sdshobbys.
