Made a purchase today.
* Servos, esc, motor and new canopy I'll purschase in a few weeks. They're so many options it's hard to get a handle on so I asked a few questions and just made the purchase. I'm keeping it flybar to start and after I'm better at flying I may build a 450 fbl heli with better stuff. Thank to everyone for helping and once I get everything I'm sure I'll have more questions. If this goes good and I continue to get better at flying I may have a whole fleet of helis!

My 450 arrived today and looks awesome. I got it from xheli, 450 pro belt driven. Looks good, I don't have anything to compare to, but looks good to me!

carbon frame ... metal head / tail ..... belt drive.
Look at MikeysRC on Youtube / google ......... he puts together the CopterX .... my mate flies a CopterX ... and I fly an Upforce 450 ........... both the same and 100% clone of the Trex 450 SE V2 ....
For spare parts :
He just about covers the lot ............ and I especially advise buying his 12.9 screws to replace ALL the screws in any 450 heli ... as the stock screws are rubbish. The 12.9 are hard machine screws that do not round out.
Get decent Hex driver set 1.5mm and up, in fact get 2 hex drivers in the 1.5mm size .......... change a feathereing shaft and you'll know why ! Do not use allen keys or ball drivers.
For a good clone replacement tail - the Tarot all in one tail unit is a great upgrade. Tarot gear costs a little more than other clone gear - but it is generally good.
My clone RTF 450 was under $200 complete ready to go ... and all is still working (yes - I've crashed and replaced the usual shafts / gears / servos / booms etc.) near 2yrs later. Worth the money ? Yes certainly. Do I wish i spent more on an Align Trex ? No why ? (Align as the story goes actually cloned from another ............ ) .... Would I buy a clone again ? I did !! $35 for a barebones spare kit ....
All of ebay I might add.

Hey all, just wanted to join in and get some advise on my 450 build as well.
After searching for 4 months, I just bought my first kit yesterday, a Tarot 450 Pro Belt version! It should be here soon, in the mean time, I'll keep practicing on my SIM, Mini CP, and V120D02S.
Diesel6401, I was going to recommend the Tarot to you, but read further and saw you got the EXI. I was so close to buying that same EXI 450 Pro belt kit! I was trying to decide on that or the CopterX 450 Pro V3 belt kit when I came across the Tarot the other day.
From what I hear, that EXI kit is very nice! I hope mine will be too!
I too am on a tight budget and won't be building right away. Only have the kit coming so far. Gonna order other parts as money allows and start piecing it together.
Anyone have advice on great servo's at a relatively inexpensive price? I know that's a lot to ask for. I hear some say the EXI D213F, Tower Pro MG90(S) and 3D Pro S410MG are fairly decent and inexpensive for cyclic and the Turnigy TGY-306G or KST DS115MG for tail. I have also looked at EMAX ES08MD for cyclic but don't hear a lot about them. I won't mind spending a few extra on good servo's that are going to work well and last. Also a true digital servo so I can convert to FBL later.
Gonna go with the Tarot 3800kv motor and a Hobbywing flyfun 40a ESC so far.
Diesel6401, I read where you wanted to convert to FBL eventually. I am also planning on that and picked that Tarot head and ZYX gyro as my choice for upgrade. I read somewhere in another forum that instead of buying a head lock gyro and spending money on one, you can get the Tarot ZYX 3 axis gyro for now and just use it for the tail, then you'll have the gyro you need when you convert and won't have to spend extra on one later. Just buy the FBL head. Those ZYX gyros go for a lot less then a good head lock gyro. Just an option.
I look forward to any suggestions and comments and good luck with your new EXI Diesel6401! I can't wait to get my kit and see how it looks!

I wish I had all the money in the world to buy all these expensive bits - me I just buy best I can in the budget ranges.
I have 2 450's and both have this gyro : E-Tech G105 ..... about $15 delivered or even cheaper through some sellers on Ebay ... works a treat.
Manual attached below.

Challenged myself to build a 450 for under $50 , and looks like I got there .
Less radio of course ...
Parts might take a while to get here ..
Just put together a Leader $9 Kit , and after a bit of trial and error it flies just great ..
Its all about having fun , and if you can have fun for less than $50 then all the power to you [ or me as the case may be ] , and if you need to spend $500 or more to have fun , well all the power to whom ever ..
There must be room for us all in this world [ ok were running out of room ] .
Cant wait to do the a sub $50 build

Ebay auctions ,
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1657020 I started this thread
But in a nutshell , here is a parts list in USD
450 kit $11.26 [ Leader hobbies = Parts4Hobby on Ebay ]
Motor 3800KV $5.03
Servo x4 $10 from Hobby King
Rotor Blades $3.67
$46.85 , under budget ($50) ... This is as cheap as I can build a 450 Heli [ less radio ] ... So far ....
I dont know if its possible to build for less than this ?
The goal was to spend as little as possible , to build the possibly cheapest 450 you can , less radio !
How cheap you can go , is some what geographical , I have to have everything posted to me [ lives in Oz ] , but Im trying .
So while others go for the TOP gear , I have set the bar as low as possible .
