I also have a cheap $8 shipped KV2700 2830 in a heli , and it seems to be doing ok for hovering , might be fitted with a 14T pinion ....

For a ESC , you want at least 40A , I got a 35A advertised one , and it must be more like 30A (or less) and after a few minutes hovering it tends to over heat ...
Its been replaced with a 40A and the heli runs fine now ..

Check those physical dimensions from the seller : [ ESC ] if there a little on the petite side , specs may be exaggerated

Old4570. Do you have a link for the gyro? Really good price. That's for flybar setup correct? Maybe I should go flybar, then when I get better and more experienced convert to fbl. If the gyro is decent and for that price it would be worth it to go that route first and fbl later. Thanks.

HK sells one for around $50 = 3 axis gyro , I need to buy one , one of these days .
Check out youtube , a guy has converted a regular head to flybarless and flies it less 3 axis gyro , with weighted blades .

Dont be afraid of flybarless , just make sure you read some reviews on the one your interested in and what options it offers , some have modes or levels for stability , Noob - Medium - 3D , so you may need some sort of interface

In a couple post up you mentioned a gyro for $12.90, was curious if you had a link for it.

They make quite a few of gyros that are cheap. Gy48V, HK401B, Eflight and a few others. Just dont expect it to hold well under extreme flying

You and I both!
All I do is sport fly. I dont do anything extreme at all. Well except for extreming my pants when the 3GX on my trex 500 went nuts on me. When it started coming at me and I had no control I was about to run leaving a trail behind me! Some control came back to shoot it out in the streets away from everybody then lost it again. Believe the stories you read about the 3GX loosing it! I do now!

Just my .02 Cents....Dont let a cheapie gyro be the death of Your $300 heli Take place. A gyro in my opinion is the heart of a fb heli. With so many now going fbl The price on gyros In classifieds have come down alot. You can now pick up a like new if not new align gp-780 for only $40. Or a spartan for $50...Spending that x-tra 20-30 $'s is very well worth it in my book. Last year I tried out the hk-401b. Only felt good about it in a hover. Sport flying it around was a bit of a mess. Again just my opinion here.

So many variables involved ... (gyro)

Obviously , the more money you spend , hopefully you get a better product , but if implemented incorrectly ??? , then cost may not be a factor .
Interesting stuff this : So many twists and turns (gyro)

With so many gyro's , and servo + Tx combinations , and the variables involved , it can take quite a bit of fiddling to get the gyro to work , another variable being head and tail rotor speed ...

Funny stuff gyros , I have one , when the head speed slows down , the gyro holds better , one of the others , wants more head speed ...
The FMT009 so far seems , less sensitive ...

I have the E Sky Gyro , ZD720 , and FMT009 flying ATM

E Sky needs warming up and maybe faster head speed 2500+ , ZD720 seems to like slower head speed [ maybe around 2000 ] and the FMT009 seems less fussy ..

But thats just for me , and with my Gyro Servo Tx combinations and my woeful set up [ I say woeful as I still consider myself a noob ]

None of my Gyro tail servo combinations come close to being the same , and I havent got around to trying out different tail servo's yet (could be important) ..

and the gy401 and gp780 they work no matter what you do

gp780 , wow , I did a entire RTF for that price ...

same with the Futaba Gyro , Built a 450 with 7ch Computer radio for that price ...

Sorry ,I would never dream of paying more than $20 for a HHgyro ...
Same goes for the ESC , Motor , or a metal head ...

Im so budget ! ( could be read as cheap )

Just like I cant afford to drive Merc or BMW or Porche or Ferrari ...

Some of us need to search out affordable gear ( budget ) as in my budget can afford it ...
