Do you plan to transfer any other data also? Or just gps info required for tracker ..

Maybe rssi could be useful, connected to some leds installed in video goggles so you could see some colour shining in goggles, like red for critical rssi green for good rssi

Code will be incorporated into diy-osd right?

maybe yes, maybe not

I think opendiyOSD_max7456 is a better candidate

If you use H-sync and V-sync from MAX7456, you might be able to use MAX7456 for OSD-overlay, and atmega for processing and video-downlink. If you get really good results, we can just add it to next PCB-design

I'll do it, need to contribute something

Does anyone have anything against pads for a GPS on board?

Like this:

(was just a layout I considered while designing)
Sounds like a plan

By the way, have you received your PCB with the OSD design yet?

Alot like that, but in my brainstorming I think a Fastrax 3339 based GPS would be better for most people, along with a single size of SMD components (either 0603 or 0805), and a header layout like the other one I designed before (maybe it will be shield compatible )

I haven't gotten my boards yet, I'm going through Seeed Studios, and they apparently had an issue that set their PCB fab back abit.

Jalves, even though you can receive 99.9999% of the sent data through wired video, have you tested what the minimum percentage of sent data that is needed to get useable information, or is that still to come?

Legot,

we are still in the very beginning of the video telemetry for the opendiy projects.

A small follow up, opendiyAT did another small step towards video telemetry.

We have already a FULL package received through wired video signal with 100% error free

In the opendiyAT program, is there any problem with changing the audio output to a pin other than Digital 10? Like if I were to switch it to Digital 6,would all be well?

Hi again,

Now it works. I put GPS on the stick outside the window. In first 2-3 minutes it doesnt't work, but after few tries, It worked. Is it normal that GPS needs few minutes?

And I get something like this.

Code:
$PAK,531248352,231512016,291*48
Time= 153434
Date= 11212
Valid Data= V
Sats= 8
current_loc.lat= 531248352
current_loc.lng= 231512016
current_loc.alt= 291
ground_speed= 0.00
ground_course= 238

108062

$PAK,531248352,231512016,291*48
Time= 153434
Date= 11212
Valid Data= V
Sats= 8
current_loc.lat= 531248352
current_loc.lng= 231512016
current_loc.alt= 291
ground_speed= 0.00
ground_course= 238

108120

$PAK,531248352,231512016,291*48
Time= 153434
Date= 11212
Valid Data= V
Sats= 8
current_loc.lat= 531248352
current_loc.lng= 231512016
current_loc.alt= 291
ground_speed= 0.00
ground_course= 238
So now I'll try connection via cable to arduino RX (without resistors in TX, directly pin 10 in TX to pin 2 in RX.
How to enable in RX to see parametres?

And also i have question about Diode in TX do digital pin 13 to see GPS status. Can I connect directly LED diode? What voltage is there in HIGH status? I read that in pin 13 there is only 1.7V?

Grzechu,

Now that you know that the arduino Tx is working as it should (receiving gps data and retrieving the lat, long, alt ), comment the print commands and connect the pin 10 of arduino Tx to pin 2 of arduino Rx.

In arduino Rx code uncomment the print statements to see if the Rx is receiving the telemetry.

Start (one each time) with print_string_buf(); then print_pak_decoded(); then print_track_data(); and finish with print_servo();

In the field choose the output you like more.

In regard to the pin13 association with the led, you can use pin13 with an external led (is this what you want to accomplish?) but don't forget to add a aprox. 330Ohm resistor in series with pin13-led-resistor-gnd.

Legot,
pin6 is already used to indicate absence of telemetry, what do you want to accomplish?

Video telemetry is working in the bench.

Have yet to fine tune it.
