I've been using the Ladybird and the Super FP to teach beginners lately (after they master the V911). The Ladybird is a lot of tun (I fly it the most out of all the helis in my fleet) but to prepare you for CP helis, the FP would probably teach you much more.
Here is the Super FP review if you would like to use it as reference The Genius FP is not a good choice as there is a design problem that makes maintenance very hard to do. (if you break the landing gear, you have to replace the WHOLE frame)... As to the CPs, again the Mini CP is a great choice..but the Genius CP isn't. That said, the Genius CP main motor is quite efficient so I suggest swapping it out. as to the others..I don't have too much experience..so I'll leave that to others for comment. |

I have a Walkera Genius and Ladybird. I have the Blade MSR, MCPx and MQx. If I have to pick one, it would be the MQx. It's by far the most versatile and durable. I fly in my house in a very small area with lots of obstacles, so how much a heli is effected by air currents makes a big difference to me, especially how they react when you change directions. The most effected is the Genius, then the Ladybird, MCPx, MSR and MQx.
The MQx is largely uneffected. It can take off with one hand, ground effects don't bother it, either. It's very smooth and stable. It has excellent response. It's also big enough to fly outdoors and handles wind well. The Ladybird is so small, it gives you a lot of room to fly. But, it's kind of skittish and response is a little mushy. It's definitely more of a challenge that the MQx. The MSR (and MSRx) are pretty good indoor fliers. It has a tendency to follow air currents in the room I fly. My biggest complaint with this heli is the tail rotor. You have to be very careful with the rudder control. The Genius is highly effected by air currents, especially when you turn. The MCPx is a little better in this respect. Both can get away from you easily and are better suited for outdoors. All of the Walkera micros have very short flight times, less than 3 minutes for the Genius and about 5 for the Ladybird. The Blade helis are good for at least 6 minutes in the MCPx, 7 or 8 in the MSR and over 10 in the MQx. |

just to re-iterate once more (and then IŽll be quiet .) ... A Solo Pro FP (which I own and which is a 4ch fix pitch heli) has about as much in common with a Solo Pro 100 (which I just got, and which is a collective pitch 6ch heli ... AND costs only 100$ shipped from the US warehouse WITH J6Pro TX) as a Ferrari F40 has with a Schwinn bike !!! But what do I know, I only was able to hover it 2 times for about a minute until now ...OK, Žnuff said ...

I'll tell you, I'm getting real annoyed with the short flight times on my Walkera Genius and Ladybird. I may sell them both real cheap along with my Devo 7.
