i was going to buy the 130, but the heavier they are, the heavier they crash! if i get a big heli i think ill buy the skyartec wasp v3 flybarless, it looks pretty good! can't wait to get the nano!!!!!

don't know how many of you have seen that gopro has released a new smaller, lighter and more powerful gopro 3 black edition, but it really is ridiculous what this thing is packing.

120fps 720p is crazy! that is some serious high def slow mo right there. not many, if any cameras under $400 will do that

i really wish my internet could load this video in full hd, but this will give you an idea of the quality of the thing.

Wow, wow, wow, no only is the camera great but that is an awesome compilation video. What is done is great, but the filming is incredible too. I still haven't figured out how they took all the scenes, some seem impossible to film, I wonder what they used as apparatus (some of the snowboard sequences, seems like helmet mount with a gyro or something)

Also check out how they changed the sound when the picture was going underwater and out in the surfing segments, outstanding!

Nick, Janet and I watched that and it's so impressive. Breathtaking. Nick has the Hero 2 and really wishes he had the new one for the 120fps/720. Jarred I think since you did the Weldon video, everyone wants the slo-mo to film the planes landing etc! Your video opened everyone's eyes with the dramatic wing flex/ shudder on landing. With the Hero3, imagine the footage of wing bend etc that you could get filming planes going pulling really hard turns and shuddering thru the shear. .

So we have all been there on the hill, in the middle of nowhere, when nature calls. Here is a song you can think of to help deal with the situation!

Problem with the Hero3 is that you only get 720p at widest angle (170 degrees) so
fast moving DS planes in view will just be a dot in frame. 1080p is the only one
that offers 90/127/170 degrees FoV and at least it'll now be available at 60fps,
but that's not going to produce super slow-mo. There is a * in the specs saying
there may be a narrow option for 720p with a firmware update, but they promised
that on the Hero2 and we never got it.

BTW, the spinning around the head shots are just the camera at the end of a pole
attached to a spinning mount at the top of the helmet. There's some vids on YT and Vimeo
showing how other people have made em. Usually they just rotate freely. Sometimes
with a counterbalance weight on the other end, so they will turn at a fairly constant speed
for a while.

Hey, speaking of gopros, what's the general concensus of the right settings for capturing ds with a head mount? And also is there a reliable way to aim the cam? I would assume the narrower FoVs are better for capturing more plane and less background, but then the aiming gets even more difficult.
I read there is a wifi backpack on the way out soon with an app to view the vision on your iphone- this would be a great help. Maybe I could tape a lazer pointer to it or something for now.
Any suggestions?

The Wifi backpack already exists for the older models.
The Hero3 has Wifi built in. And yes, the "live" (1-2 second lag) display on
a smart phone would be useful for initial aiming. That's usually the most painful bit.

To give you an idea of FoV, my original Weldon DS Experience vid was shot using
1080p at 127 degrees FoV on the Hero HD. That's now called "medium wide" setting
on the Hero2 and Hero3.
I shot a frontside acro vid this summer using Hero2's 1080p narrow FoV (90 degrees).

My preference is for the latter but the aiming can be a real pain. I shot
