Welcome to the forum.

If you stick to proven design parameters and don't make your first plans overly complex, you will be successful.

Why are all these people posting in the wrong subforum all of a sudden?

The guy want to design his own plan, so posting it in in the wrong forum will bring him little or no help and help maintain the integrity of his unassisted design effort.

The only better plan to assure him of getting little or no assistance would have been to post nothing about it anywhere...

OK, I get it.

Look at the plans for the Blu Baby 33 trainer, that will give you an idea as to some cheap materials and building techniques:

Cardboard might not be strong enough. And if you do something to make it stronger it might get too heavy...
