4-Cell 5000mAh 45C with EC3 connector?
Hello,
I have a question for you guys. I've some EC3 connectors and I would like to modify my 4S pack. The EC3 can handle up to 60A and EC5 can handle up to 120A. Some people have said the EC3 can easily handle 100A. Is that true? The battery pack I will use has the following info: Max Charge Current: 30A Max Cont. Current: 225A Max Burst Current: 450A Based on the information above, would you use the EC3 connector? What should I look for before buying any connector? The Max cont. current? Thank you! |

It depends on the average current. What is the battery powering?

I use EC3 on 6S 5000 mAH packs up to 60A and they stay cold. I don't think I would want to pull 100A through them.
 One thing to watch is the wire gauge on your pack, anything over 12 ga will need to be trimmed down to fit into the connector cup. |

The plane is a FMS F4U Corsair 1400mm and the stock ESC is rated 65A / 3A BEC if I'm not mistaken. The motor is a 4215-500Kv. The battery pack has the following info: 4-Cell 5000mAh 45C Max Charge Current: 30A Max Cont. Current: 225A Max Burst Current: 450A What I don't understand is the Max Burst. Could it reach the 450A even for a second? @RobC(UK) Which C packs do you use? 30C ? |

I'm able to fit 12 AWG into the EC3 connector.
Should I use EC3 or EC5? |

You should be basing this off your amp draw, not some numbers on the battery. For accuracy, wattmeter it, but I'm guessing if the ESC is 65A max, then EC3s will be fine. (Assuming the ESC was appropriately chosen,)
