Looking for a new radio, Futaba 6EXA or 6XAS

I have narrowed it down to two radios, the new 6EXA, and the older 6XAS. They both have the features I am looking for, but I think the XAS is a little higher end. Is it worth the cost difference, or am I better off with the EXA?

I have the 6EXA and love it. I don't know much about the 6XAS, only that it is the older version of the 6EXA. My 6EXA cost me $80, while the 6XAS cost $120. I couldn't see myself paying $40 more for an older model.

The 6EXA is a cut down version of the 6XAS. It is aimed at a beginners entry computer set.

The 6X*S has lots of features the 6EXA doesn't. I will sell my like-new 6XHS transmitter (Ch. 22) for $100 shipped to lower 48. Used for only two months. Comes with wall charger, manual and extra TX battery (2 total). If interested, email

EXA has digital trim which would be better to me. I ordered mine for $80, TX only to replace the crappy 4VF.

Is there anyone out there that has used both and can give a good amount of feedback on whether it's worth the extra money for the XAS over the EXA.

reason I bought the EXA is because it has just enough stuff that I need. I was leaning towards the Futaba 9C radio. I was just gonna get the transmitter itself but it has more bells and whistles that I won't be using. EXA has 6 model settings which I prolly won't fly that many planes. to me I think the EXA is good for the people who won't be owning many planes. As I'm learning more about slopeing, I only have 1 sloping wing and fixing to get a 3D airplane. 2 flyable airplanes that I own and I prolly will buy another plane in the future but more likely not. Unless I need to replace one.

Forget both and get a JR XP662 has all the features of the field force 6 (6XAS) and more
and retails at only a few dollars more , especially when you get to needing advanced mixes
on more than 1 switch(this is where the JXP662 shines over the 6XAS) and named model memory
instead of just numbered

Canada and the US have identical radios, and similar laws I believe.

So to conclude with all, I am guessing that the XAS is worth the extra few bucks?
