There is more info on my cnc journey here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1600948

The router as it stands is my own design built from hardware store stock. To do.over again would cost me about 7-8 bills plus software, computer, ect...

Well, I had a baby girl and started a quadcopter website BaseXrc.com.

I am still making progress on this jet. Right now I am finalizing the plug.

Just moved to a new/old house and the dungeon basement is my work shop!

So after looking at the intake design that I have, I noticed the intakes would not clear the wing. So I used the intake model in CAD to make an impression in the wing model where the intakes would go.

But now the dilemma is retract location. Originally the wheels were going to retract into the wing saddle area, but now it will be chock full of intakes. If I move the retracts out from the saddle, the wing thickness is 20mm where the retracts would bolt in, but the wheel well would be marginal as it is located more toward the trailing edge due to the wing sweep. Given the wheels that I have, they will be in the slip stream 5mm or so, or I can get slim wheels and shoe horn them in the wing.

My goal as it stands is to have the wheel well cnc cut into the wing skin for a nice symmetrical look and ease of retract installation. I also thought to maybe ad an all encompassing chunk of balsa to the wing so I could mill a nice purpose built retract well into the wing, although that might be a bit heavy and just concentrating on hard points may be lighter and stronger.

So what do guys think? Are gear doors and an ultra roomy wheel well important on this size bird?

will that leave enough room in the wing for a spar? cant you just put a curve in the inlet duct to clear the wing.

For the spar I was thinking having it ulta thin in the middle and then using expanding polyurethane to act as a sheer web in the center portion of the wing.

And it looks even the fan itself is below the wing as you can see in the pic.

I may try to see just how high I can sweep the intakes in the next days. Or mold the wing and see if I can get the strength I need.

Well I reworked the intake design for 90mm and it now clears the wing and still leaves room for batteries between the intakes. I will have to mill a small portion out of the rear-top-center portion of the wing so the fan can set into that area.

I installed 3x 1/4" dowels into the front of the wing saddle area of the wing and I am working out the details of incorporating their location into the molds so replacement wings will be a tight fit with good alignment.

Each intake starts at 3.3sqin and gradually increases to the fan FSA/2 which I believe is 3.8sqin.

Thanks, I hope to finish it without taking another "molders hiatus"...

Very nice looking sport jet. Looks like an F20/Super Sniper/Spark hybrid to me.

With a 90mm power system, it might be a little bit hard to track at 160mph+

Can it be scaled up? Maybe to 55" length and a 110mm for power??

Yeah I could scale it up for sure, but I have to finish this one first at its current scale. This bird will not be for the faint of heart, and if it hits 160mph and is still landable I will be a happy man.

The concept here is to have a nice thrusty fan with cool running components. I have a similarly sized 90mm EDF that is 36" wing span and it runs off of a cheap CS90 combo from x-flight and a 6S 4000. I did have to get a ICE 100 because the Suppo 100 amp burned out twice. (FLames )

Here is a video of the Rush on 6S 4000 CS12Blade90 with a 36" span. No flaps so it comes in a bit hot.

Here I made a surface offset .100" from the intakes and cut it into my wing plug. I will finish this before molding and it will be reproduced in the mold.
