the cameras arrived today on friday it was a lens that arrived after 2 months from dealextreme

here are the first photos. came nicely packaged in those little parts-boxes! i think i have a new place for storing my lenses the screws for the lens mount were free inside that box, they might scratch the lens or the image sensor if you had bad luck, but most probably wont.

the cmos cam doesnt have a IR filter, and the lenses dont have one either... will have to find one which has. but i'll do the testing with the stock lens (the 3.6mm one, not 6mm).

from left to right: 420tvl cmos, 420tvl ccd, 700tvl ccd

more coming

the 420tvl cameras work and i recorded a short sequence with each. but the 700tvl came with the cables loose, the plug housing is separately in the box... have to find the pinout, nothing on the sureelec. site...

the cmos works down to 6.5V. the 420 ccd down to 7.0V. they both work slightly below that, but noise and gliches appear.

i'm sure the cmos can be easily modded to 5v operation. theres a 7805 right after 12v-in...

fpv camera comparison (2 min 53 sec)

0:00 - 0:30 sureelectronics.net 420TVL cmos pal, stock lens (3.6mm), looks like it doesnt have a IR filter
0:30 - 1:00 sureelectronics.net 420TVL ccd pal, stock lens, should be 3.6mm but looks wider, more like 2.8mm
1:00 - 1:47 sureelectronics.net 700TVL ccd pal, stock lens (3.6mm), check low voltage reaction around 1:40
1:48 - 2:14 sc2000.com PZ0481 690TVL pixim seawolf, stock lens (2.8mm), this camera was inside my bixler, and running over 5.8ghz, that's why there's the osd. not default settings, i changed some things
2.14 - end nghobbies.com 20mm 600tvl 5V pal, stock lens (3.6mm). the camera output compresses the sync pulses when there are bright parts in the image, so the osd can't sync correctly (the osd does some internal timing/sync restoration, so it can show the osd most of the time, osd looked much worse without the internal timing), not even the dvr can keep up. otherwise good camera, exposes for shadows (which is good), great low light capability! here's a flight video of that cam: youtube

the sun came through when testing the 700tvl cam, so it's quite contrasty, the pixim handles it much better. will have to do some flight testing to able to say something useful, but so far, the sureelectronics cams work and look good.

here's the video file straight from fpv-japan dvr, appended the files in virtualdub and saved with direct stream copy, so this should be the raw data. http://upload.festzeit.ch/upload/zeu...02_allcams.avi

700 tvl arrived today and just tested (in my poorly lit shed), I'm impressed so far. Look forward to testing it in daylight outdoors tomorrow.

quix-fz, have you got the OSD working yet? I used the pin out from the picture on their site but was a bit reluctant to throw another 12v into the longer OSD leads but since I got nothing on the screen I'm guessing this needs to be done?

700TVL 1/3" SONY Super HAD CCD II test (1 min 25 sec)

Cheers,
Al
