This is super awesome. Which camera is this?
Tim needs to offer a way to connect this frame to a gimball that has tall landing legs as well. But I'm not sure how if the bottom plate is the dirty plate.

Thanks Ben. The camera is a GoPro Hero 2.

I believe Tim's thinking on the design was to eliminate the need for a camera Gimbal.

He has achieved this with the "clean" and "dirty" plates.

I guess you are thinking for perhaps panning and tilting?

That's exactly right. He needs to add something like that to this frame, especially tilting and smooth panning. The panning won't work because of the blades.

Man, you're getting good. Jealous!

Yeh, I guess if you want a pan / tilt function it could be done, but maybe a different frame would be more suited.

Cheers for the nice comment. Really feel I have come a decent way in a week or so.

Inspired to go explore more and make more videos!

Because that will in essence disable the BEC on the ESC's. Some ESC's don't have a built in BEC, like the DJI Opto 30A, so you don't need to do it.

Is it recommended to loctite the bobbin bolts when attaching the clean frame to the dirty frame? Or is a locking washer sufficient?

Thanks

Is there a way to remove the red wire for use with the Naza, and then reattaching if you need it for another FC?

it is very simple.

lift the tab on the jst connector very carefully with the tip of a razor blade.

lift it just enough to clear the pin, but not so far that you damage it.

then just pull the pin and tape it or heat shrink it.

If you ever need to replace it, just remove the heat shrink and plug it in.

Had an awesome session late today, early evening in a dried up lake.

Got a heap of footage, just need some time to download, edit and upload.

This quad is getting better and better for me.

first post in this thread, I have recently finished my QAV500 build and have been out flying it yesterday with a sony BOSS PJ710V onboard. Only in the local park at the crack of dawn, all LOS and it was the maiden so not too much to say other than it flies very well and the Sony shoots great footage. more to follow as I get bigger nuts..

oops. sorry I have no idea where I got cx760 from . it is infact a pj710V sony BOSS camcorder. my brain had a fart.
anyway , AUW :
QAV500 = 1660 g
camcorder 636 g
battery 370 g

total :

2666 Grams. it feels heavy as its a small Quad but it flys very well on 4s 11 inch props ( although the space between props and frame is about 5 mm in places ..)

DJI Naza QAV500 Sony CX760V test flight 1 (8 min 0 sec)

Thanks Mike.

Most of the build logs just don't cover these things.

Appreciate the assistance.
