Motor Identification help

I was recently given a P51. I was told that it was a 400, but how can I confirm? Currently the stick is mounted in the 350's position according to the manual. If it is a 400, will that cause any issues? The gear is a C.

Thanks,

Como

The diameter of the 400 is 28mm, while the 350 us 24mm, and there's "350" shown on its shell. These two links will let you know more of the two motors. http://www.gwsus.com/english/product...em/eps350c.htm
http://www.gwsus.com/english/product...em/eps400c.htm You have to click at the circles of the prop under its gear ratios for viewing more informations.

Probably you could use the modern 3S 11.1V lipo to power the EPS400, while 2S lipo for running the 350 one.

So it's better to use 2S 1300mAh 20C or 25C lipo powering it up. But it's way much better to upgrade the power set up into brushless one if you do not have any brushed ESC, 15A one, at this moment. It's quite easy to buy a cheap combo set of 400 size 1100KV outrunner + 20A ESC on internet or even your LHS. It'll cost you about US$20 only but the lipo pack is not included. Normally 3S lipo will power this set up better but you have to put this warbird aside and fly a high wing trainer like GWS Estarter using the same brushless set up instead if you are a beginner.

I think I will upgrade to a BL. If it was the 400, I was going to try with the stock setup. I have the guts of an Alpha P-47 sitting around.

Thank you again Chen,

My pleasure ! Brushed 350 actually works better than 400 if they are all with 2S lipo, but 350 will get burnt sooner when using 3S.
