Which was your first micro helicopter?

Just curious, which was your first micro helicopter that started you in this particular branch of RC aeromodeling?

Up until early 2012, I had flown nothing but sailplanes (2M and DLG) but then a review in a helicopter magazine covered the Blade Scout CX and mentioned how easy it was to fly. This made me very curious about learning to fly an RC heli.

Well, I took the plunge and I bought the Scout. At first I had some difficulty getting it to take off, but after a few tries, I was flying it around the room. I was very impressed at how stable it was and how easy it was to operate.

I kept flying it for about 2 weeks but then got bored with it and sold it on Ebay. So I got a used MSR (the original) and at first I had difficulty with left turns but then I learned how to do them. After a few weeks I got bored with it, sold it on Ebay, and purchased the MSR X, which I currently fly. This one has proven to be a wonderful and responsive and fast helicopter. Yes, it's FP, but it flies very well and FFF and left turns are no problem at all. After only about a month flying it, I can hover, do FFF in all directions, and do circuits and figure 8s and funnels and backwards flight.

In the near future I will get an MCPx. The local store has only RTF, though.

When I fly it indoors, my family refers to it as a fly because of the noise that the motor makes as well as how it flies.

I have an MCP X I am thinking about selling.

I have 8 or 10 lipos for it and a charger.

Was thinking $120 shipped.

If interested,PM me.

Sorry about selling in the forum but I just thought I'd help someone who may be looking.

My first and still best micro was the Hirobo SRB Quark. But, it's kind of large for my small flying room, so I bought an MSR. The Quark was over 4 years ago, the MSR about 3 years ago. I've owned several other micros since, but I still have those two.

My first fixed pitch micro was a GW Xieda 9958. Since it had the toilet bowl effect, it became a parts donor. The WL Toys V911 was where I learned the four channel heli. I am now in the market for the collective pitch micro, so if you want, give me your best sales pitch.

I had a Honey Bee, but that ended when a car came...well it ended with full throttle while holding the helicopter on my chest.

It's all that blasted picco Z's fault....first 4ch was the 4#3 FMrx. I don't recommend that route. You have to be a very determined individual to learn on a 4#3. Many, much easier helis to learn on now.

regards,
Bill

Havoc heli from Walmart. It's 4 years old, and the tiny internal lipo battery still works !!
(Too bad I can't say the same for all those msr lipos I've burned through)

Edit...........
Would have been nice to have one of these instead:

Get the girl with a R/C Helicopter (2 min 24 sec)

My first was a Walkera 5g6 which I bought in 09 iirc.

Flew it for a few times, packed it away for a couple of years, then returned to the hobby about 9 Months ago.

I still have them.
