The following pictures should show and describe how I intend to make a watertight/airtight compartment forward of H 4 .5.
In the last picture the grey component is the new former showing the cut out for the removable bulkhead hatch. The former shown at H 4 .5 and above H 4.5 C has been made in two parts , and temporarily set in place.
Before anyone gets too alarmed. I will say, that I will be making accommodations for expansion and contraction within the compartment. I have time to decide whether I will use a bladder or ball check valve or duck lip valve(s). In any event, that will be cut in after I have tested the aforementioned devices. And after the waterproof hatch has been installed (with gasket )and the mechanism perfected for holding it in place.:

Hummmmm. I for one (not that I matter in the least) would feel better if you left the bulkhead open to allow the forward section 'breathe'... It's a boat- water will find its way in there, one day. Airflow is your friend.

AEROMINDED: Thanks for the thought.
I should have been more clear. The bulkhead will only be closed while running.In fact when finnished ,this 63 will have all of the air spaces open to air circulation from H-1 to the transom.No air spaces will be left "closed off".If built according to plans,there is a "honeycomb" of places between transom and H-13,and between H-1 & H-2,all are ventilated on this example.
Having worked in/around dairy processing/food processing all my life with elec,/electronics I am well aware of water/liquid/chemicals, getting in unwanted places.The only place that is dry in dairy processing,is the office.Usually!!?!?!

PS The first time I built the STIRLING 63 , 50 years ago,I was already tuned in to this problem. There were NO LEAKS then,I expect none now.

You keep adding stuff to this boat you'll have to get bigger motors. What's the reason for this new addition? Pete

Neither rain, sleet, hail, snow or hurricane, Sandy can keep Rich Kohl from delivering the goods.
I ordered Saturday, December 1, Rich said he would go out Monday the third, I received the today the fifth.
The service could have only been better had Rich driven here,package in hand, and knocked on my door.

Yeh, but I had to walk 4 miles to pick mine up at the slowest post office in North America.
Besides the extra day allowed more time for them to dry out

But, as to the walk, it was uphill both ways in the snow AND I had holes in my shoes
