Night Bowling had it's moments this year. I was only there for the Friday night show. The wing that split in half after hitting the table was cool. Along with team Micro, they rocked.
I do know one thing. I will not be setting pins next year. Having people try to nail me with there plane on purpose is not my idea of fun. I can see someone getting hurt real bad one day. It's not going to be me.

I have a suggestion to any and all that attempt "SEFF Bowling". Have three tables on the field. One for the pins to be set up on, and two turned on their sides for the pin setters to duck behind. Also, when only 1 pilot is trying at a time, they can stand inline with the table and less chance of the pin setters getting hit. Having multiple planes in the air required all the pilots to stand back away from the table and caused a lot of "gutter balls".

bowling was a let down this year imo... I was not at all for the structured night flying.

question this looked so fun we are trying to do something like it here in colorado.
is the any way some one can list the spec's, loose rules. how it was scored.
maybe pictures of the planes too.
we did a practice last night with a lighted foam table, and plastic cups. using are night raiders slow sticks. it isn't as easy as you would think, but dang fun for sure.

This started last year as an impromptu unofficial event and kind of grew from there. What you see is what you get in the video. It was kind of made up as we went along and the judging at the end was audience participation.

The fun thing about it was that the only hard fast rule we had was safety. Keep the crowd out of the way behind the flightline, and keep an eye on what the pilots are doing as well. If you were not flying you were on a knee behind the line. The pins were made out of pool noodles cut to length and turned on a lathe to resemble pins. We had a $4 halogen lamp lighting up the folding table and that was about it for the setup. After Dark LED provided a led light base we had on the table which was cool but is not needed for the event to be succesful.

Like I said, just have fun with it and make it up as you go. It'll be a blast whatever you come up with!

That was me with my SuperFly. I simply attached two streamers made of two feet long LED strips (AfterDark) at each wingtip.

The SF was by the way the "Official Night Bowling Plane 2011"
The "rules" we used last year:

- Grab a SuperFly
- Full throttle
- 130% rates
- Stripped left aileron servo (since that was the case )
- you have 2 trials
- Off you go!
